Default Dry Picket Fence distress marker..argh!

Has anyone else had the problem of Ranger Picket Fence Distress markers drying out very soon after first using it? I have one that is bone dry and it's only been used twice. Stores horizontally, with cap on tightly, etc. None of my other markers are dry, just this one. From reading online reviews of the Picket Fence one (which is pigment ink rather than dye), it's a common complaint.

I don't want to just toss it, but am wondering what I can try to rehydrate it? Any ideas? Thanks.

Oh yeah.  I had 2 of them and had the same exact thing happened to both.  I tried using the ink refresher but that was a waste of time.  I also have trouble with the colored distress makers drying out along with my Stampin Up markers.

I kept the caps on tight and stored them in the Tim Holtz marker tins away from heat.   I've given up on all markers of this type.

I know how frustrating this is and I hope someone can give a more hopeful reply than mine!

I bought mine a long while ago, but had never tried it. Always stored horizontal in a drawer. After seeing your question, I went to check. Yep, dry as a bone.

Sounds like this is par for the course. I'm surprised they even sell them anymore (or do they? Haven't checked lately. I sure wouldn't buy one again).

I just tried the 3 other colors I had of these markers. Two of the colors only work with the brush end not the fine tip end. The fine tip end was dried up as well and I had not used them either.  I am glad I only bought 4 markers. Not going to buy any more.

Maybe someone has a solutions?

Good to know that the ink refresher did not work. I mean too bad it didn't but good to know.

I think Ranger stopped making the Distress markers because of all the problems with them drying out.  I had 3, and only one of them is still working.  They were pretty dry from the start.

I wrote to Ranger this week and they told me to first try to get resolution from the vendor. Of course, I didn't keep receipts from my purchases, as they happened months ago. I know that the Ranger.com website is still carrying and selling the Distress markers so I guess they're still making them?

Default Refreshing/rehydrating markers & pads

I use Distress Refresher and good ole' glycerin to refresh my markers and pads to extend the life of them. See the how to Youtube videos by the Frugral Crafter and many others on how to do so search "refreshing markers".
