Default Double sided cutting plates? Advise please

I am thinking getting a "'double sided" die from Craftstash on sale from Sara's Collection. She has a whole bunch of them. They are for Gemini machines-I have one.

They require the use of TWO sets of cutting plates-one specifically for double sided dies and then a regular set. Sounds like a really fat sandwich.

Does anyone have experience with the double-sided dies? The idea is that you do two cuts at the same time.

Do we really need this second set of plates (about $24)? Could they be used on other cutting machines?

Well, I learned something new today. Tell me more about a double-sided die. I've never heard of one.

I don't know if this will help...I used my 2 regular plates in my Bigshot...worked fine.

Here's a link to Crafters Companion and Sara doing the double sided die cutting. I think this concept is under a year old. You will see her use 2 sets of cutting plates.

That is exactly what I wanted to find out! Thanks! So you just put paper on both sides of the die and ran it? No shims?

I have never enjoyed working with double-sided stamps.

I have never seen double sided stamps... I have a couple of two step stamps though. I bought the double sided plate and use it in my Gemini Jr with my 'regular' dies... that plate doesn't warp. (Yes, I flip and rotate my regular plates with every cut but they all warp horribly).

That's interesting. Warping is that old perennial problem. Thanks

Margot, I've been using these plates exclusively for a year now: 2 of the green ones meant for double-sided dies and 2 regular Gemini plates. NO WARPING!!! (I don't have any double-sided dies.) These plates are wonderful , and I'm surprised it's not being shouted from the rooftops!
