I'm thinking about buying the full set of SU markers. I have a big gift certificate burning a hole in my pocket since Christmas. What do you like or dislike about them? Do you use them often?
I love them. Maybe its just because they match the ink and paper. I use them when writing inside a card. I also use them like when a flower and a stem are together on a stamp, I can color the flower one color and the stem another color. Or any stamp that would involve more than one color I use them.
I put off purchasing them for the longest time because it is such a huge investment and I was afraid it would be like so many other things I have bought that I didn't use enough. But they were actually the best stamping investment I have made. I absolute LOVE my SU markers and I use them on 95% of all my projects.
I like them for many reasons:
they match the cardstock and ink pads
they can be used to color directly on the rubber
they can be used to color in already stamped outline images
they can be used to write messages or do fine line doodling
they can be used for the watercolor technique (scribble the marker on a plastic surface to make a puddle of ink, dip a paintbrush in water then in the puddle then paint your image)
they can easily be refreshed with reinker when they dry out - which actually takes a long time in my experience
Hey, if you have a gift certificate that will cover the cost, I say go for it. I'm sure you will love them too.
Only time I ever use them is to color a stamp before stamping as Stampinmom said. Perhaps you could buy just a few in colors you like and think you would use...as some greens, pinks or whatever color you like your flowers to be. I much prefer to stamp my image and then color. For the money, you could buy a lot of other stampin things that would probably be more useful... IMHP
I just bought a set from a friend who picked them up at a yard sale brand new for $5.00!! I haven't used them yet, but needless to say, I am doing the happy dance big time!!!

I love mine... perfect for "inking" a stamp that needs to have more than one color before stamping. I love Copics for coloring, but alcohol based markers can't be used directly on the stamp. Join a marker club if you can- that's the best way to get all of them (plus a few extras) over the course of four months- softens the blow a little bit!

Oh My Goodness Yes!!! They are even cheaper in this catalog... who knows come August with the new catty coming what the cost will be, seems like everything is going up....
They are super!! Like all the posts above... Go get them....
I love the markers - as everyone else says, you can't beat them for colouring directly on a stamp. Great for the thumping technique too. It's always handy to have them on hand if part of an image doesn't transfer well too, you can just fill in the blank spot with the marker. I say go for it, you'll love the versatility!
Oh yeah---you need them. Have a workshop and get them---you can then get the goodies and free merchandise to get someother things as well. Chipboard this month, is discounted! Go for it, you won't regret it. ONe of the first major purchases I made, before I became a demo and still love them. I bought them during a Sale-a-bration, so I would get some free sets as well!
I love them and use them a lot, however, the tips on the newer ones do not last as long as the set I bought a few years back. I decided not to get the copics but I do have several other kinds of markers that I use as much as the SU!. I thinkthe SU! markers are well worth the investment.
I think the SU markers are a wonderful investment. I tend to be very protective of mine, and don't let anyone but myself get a hand on them.
If you are worried about the investment-you could always host a party and use the hostess benefits to buy your SU markers....that's how I got mine. All in all, they're wonderful!
Wow! I'm really impressed that you have hung onto a gift certificate for 4 months without spending it...that's impressive!!! I love my markers and it was definitely worth the expense. I personally like everything to match - cardstock, ink, markers, etc.

I am really happy with my SU Markers. Originally I bought 3 sets on their own-but then decided that I wanted carrying case. So I then bought the whole shebang! I wish I'd done that in the beginning. I have been able to sell one set of the color families and hope to sell the other 2 soon.

WOW! some husband is in trouble somewhere!

I love mine!
Use them all the time, like everyone is saying they are great for coloring on the stamp, doodling, thumping, and best of all water coloring technique...If I go on a trip...they go in my fun bag to keep me from strangling my husband for tail gating or my kids from arguing! LOL
It is so nice to have them match the cardstock too!
Go for it! I have never regretted the purchase!
I have the copic markers too...not all of them..yet! Shhhh don't tell my hubby! hee hee
I am not as good with my copics yet, still working on blending them...a work in progress. But my SU markers are a sure bet everytime!

These were probably one of the first SU items I ever purchased (except for stamps) and I LOVE THEM...I don't have a lot of different ink's but I have lots of different paper, so I can use them to ink stamps whenever I do not have the pad to match..Also for stamps that require multiple colors they are irreplaceable!
I just splurged and bought them myself. I hosted my own personal workshop so I got some freebies with the markers. I'm happy I got them - I really like them a lot. I find that the color is more saturated with these markers than the le plume markers I had been using.
I use my SU markers all the time. However, I find the tips get kind of "mushy" and aren't as pointed as I would like. I try really hard not to push down too hard, but they still spread out. The fine tips stop working pretty quickly, so that's pretty aggravating. I just haven't found anything better, so I'll keep using them.
