First, let me say that I appear to be a sucker for all things craft related. That being said, I'm trying to decide if I really need the Score-Pal, or just want it because it's neat. I do not score a ton. For cards, I typically use my bone folder, unless mass producing (which isn't too often), and don't see myself pulling the Score-pal out for a single card. Other than that, I don't score a whole lot, except for the occasional dimensional project.
If it were a $15 item, I would be all over it. For $40, though, is it really that big of a help for the minimal scoring I do?
Great question, and I'm right there with you! I pretty much only make cards, and the scoring blade on my cutter has been working fine for me so far, but with all the talk about this great new product, I'm also asking if it's a "must have" and if so, why. So...thought I'd subscribe to hear what others think.

Well, at least I'm not alone in my quest for answers. I was starting to think I wouldn't get any bites on this thread. Hopefully someone in the know will post soon!

What do you think?
Wellllll, Jacque, I have been thinking that I do! Does that help at all?
I am almost exclusively a card maker, and I actually *do* pull it out all the time! I made bunches of gate fold cards, which I would never have made without my Scor Pal. Every score is accurate every time. I could not say that about my Fiskars scoring blade.
I find myself making more boxes, more specialty fold cards now, because I know I won't get frustrated with all the wasted cardstock from a mis-score.
I love it because I put the paper down once, then make all the score lines I need.
I agree wholehearted with Amy. I am loving mine and plan to do all those scoring things like boxes, etc.which before I have wasted paper on by inaccurate folds and unsuccessful measuring. This is the tool that makes the job a snap!! I think it's a must for any card maker!!

There really doesn't seem to be a downside to it. I guess, if anything, it sounds like I might be more willing to try some new things. Thanks for the feedback Amy & Liz!
I say you need it! I use it all the time. I don't pull it out - it never gets out away - it is such an awesome tool it has earned a permanent place on my table! I must say I was a bit hesitant, but am ever so glad I bought it!!!
I finally bit the bullet too...started to order it a dozen times but didn't b/c of the price... But, I have to say that I absolutely love it. I have the fiskars cutter and gave up trying to score accurately. I haven't had a mistake since I got it. I have since rationalized that it actually saved me money from having to throw away all my wasted mistakes....ummm...how does that sound for enabling? In all seriousness...I'm really glad I bought it. Use it everytime i make cards. I also struggled with the cuttlebug and that turned out to be a great investment too. Good luck!

I like how you rationalize! I've decided to get it. My Christmas present to myself! Always looking for the best deal, now I'm trying to find 5 other friends who want it to get the free freight!

WHERE did you find one for only $40? Online the least expensive I can find is $57???
I have been on the fence about it also...not because of the price BUT because of space! After reading these posts, I think I will go ahead and get one and find space for it
I just ordered mine today from Scor-Pal.com for $39.95. I live overseas too, but the shipping was priority and I ordered 2 other items with it.
Sweet - thanks! Should come inhandy with all the of nugget boxes I plan to make for the holiday (since I can't find the tin ones online anywhere right now).

Although it's wide, it is actually thin so you could probably slide it between the wall and the desk, kwim?
Yes, you need one. I went ahead and ordered one after reading all the great things about it on SCS.I got mine and for once my measurements are coming out right, and the fact I don't have to move my paper everytime to score is great. I see a lot of new things that I am going to attemp to make now.

And it's cool. LOL
I agree with Amy--one of the best tool investments a stamper/paper crafter could ever make!
I *heart* my Scor-Pal!

I always thought....who would spend $40+ on something the score paper! But my birthday was last week and I now own one. And the only way it leaves this house is if it's pried from my cold dead hands!!! Can you say love it. My 4 year old can make perfect folds with it. It's a must have for any papercrafter.
I just received mine last week (two thumbs up as they ship to APOs)... It's so cool... I just wish I would have come up with that nifty idear myself... It's a rather simple tool for the price, but it looks like it's going to be worth it... I'm amazed that the little scoring tool doesn't "hop" out of the groove while I'm scoring... Looking forward to making a lot more gate fold cards, for sure... Nifty.. indeedy! Enjoy!
I don't own this but have been eyeballing it too! LOL! I will say that when I buy "fun" tools I tend to find a use for them since they are fun. I also like trying new projects and new tools help me be more creative with less frustration (less wasted cs). I say go for it!

Sounds like we think along the same lines! I ordered it yesterday and can't wait for it to get here so I can try it out.
Now I have to come up with more Christmas ideas to share with DH. He saw I ordered this and starting complaining about needing gift ideas that I won't be buying for myself! (As if I could ever run out when it comes to crafting!) LOL!
Ah, our husbands would get along beautifully! DH was just asking me what I wanted for Christmas and rolling his eyes at the same time! LOL! I guess he's "bought" too many gifts that I've gone ahead and ordered before he knows about it. Good thing he loves me....otherwise I'd have to find someone else to support my habit!
Can't wait to see what you do with it! Please share!!
I don't have a Scorepal, but I do have a Scor-it and I wouldn't be without it. I used to make my cards with the bone folder, but now it takes me only seconds to score and fold my cards perfectly. I also like the fact that I can measure my score lines as close as 1/16th of an inch. Scoring boxes just takes seconds too. The score line is very professional looking and could also be used as embossed lines in a pattern. The Scor-it also has a mini version available so that one would be more portable. I have the big one, but it's only a 1/2" wide so would be easy to store. I keep mine out all the time though so it has it's own permanent space .

And what kind of answer do you expect from the best enablers in North America (and beyond)!!!
I have been the lucky reciepient of the original Scor-Pal and now the new improved model. People have been so kind to give each of these to me to help me produce cards and bases faster for the troops. All I can say is I so love these tools. On the packaging there are the instructions for several different types of cards. It is so easy as someone else said to score all the lines without moving your paper. It makes the cards I send over the the troops look much more professional. I only want the best for them. I am so happy to have the Scor Pal. It is a lightweight but larger tool, I store mine right by my leg under my desk so it is so easy to grab. Once you have one and use it for awhile you will wonder how you ever got along without it. JMHO.
Ok ladies! Thanks for the heads up on this product...I just ordered it! What would I do without these enabler posts? Save money but wouldn`t be half as fun. :-)
I thought I would share with you...yesterday alone we had 53 orders from men, they outnumbered the ladies orders. A lot of ladies are receiving a Scor-pal for Christmas. It is cool when a man phones me and tells me how his wife just has to have this tool and that he can't understand this desperate need she has. LOL we understand don't we!
