distressed ink pads

what makes distressed ink pads different from SU ink pads? Has anyone done sponged color combinations for SU ink pads. Looking to try the same sponging techniques; using SU ink pad color combos. For example on embossing folders.

The SU ink pads will work. the dye in the distressed ink pads seems a bit more reactive than the SU dye so you can get some fun effects - but in general they act very similarly. have fun!

Distress inks are dye inks that have been formulated to retain their original color when mixed with water and they stay wet longer so they can be blended, too.

Lots of tutorials on YouTube done by SU demos using SU inks for sponging. Totally do-able.

I own and like the Distress Inks because of the extra water-reactivity and the colors. But if all you want to do is sponge, no need to buy special ink for it. Good sponging is more about technique and what you use to sponge with. And if you just want to apply ink to an EF, then you should have no problems.

I think the most distinctive thing about the Distress (not distressed) is the color selection. They tend to be more colors found in nature rather than the common brights and pastels found in other brands. Although that seems to be changing recently.

I, too, happen to love their colors. Although I personally don't tend to go for them first as a general stamping ink. My use of them is almost entirely for distressing and sponging and background techniques.
