Default Color Bursts

worth the $$ or not? I've been seeing them around and wonder if I should take the plunge or not? And if so, do you have a favorite color set?

If price is a consideration - I'd go with Brusho - per gram they are about 50 times cheaper. Powdered watercolors are really super fun - I think you'll enjoy the heck out of them. I love my Brusho and reach for it often.

OP, both work the same but the colors offered between the two are not all the same so I would encourage you to check out the colors in both of these lines.

Ken Oliver just came out with a Carribbean Brights set so if you like brighter colors I'd go with those. I love them. A little goes a LONG way. You just puff a tiny bit out (you wont even see it on the paper.) Then when you mist with water the color explodes. The Brushos color selection is more toned down so if you like more earthy tones that might be better for you.

Brusho has very intense brights - not sure why people say that.

I'm the world's worst colorer but I spent a fun hour using someone else's Brushos and had a blast. You can get a great variety of effects just by using them on wet or dry paper, more or less water, etc. If you take the plunge, and if you like watercoloring you should, you will have a blast. If the fun factor doesn't sway you, the GORGEOUS cards Lydia posted certainly will!

I have used Ranger Watercolor paper and Strathmore Mixed Media Paper for the Color Burst. I haven't tried Brusho yet.....Lydia is quite the enabler! LOL

But Color Burst is really cool and a little does go a long way!

You tend to spray quite a bit of water -- so you need paper strong enough to "get wet".

WOWZERS Lydia! Your cards are stunning! I have all the Colorburst except the newest ones and lots of Bisters. Used only once but you have inspired me to spend more time with them.

Default OMG Lydia!

Whooo weee! Such beautiful backgrounds with those Brusho. Amazing job Lydia! I have both Brusho and Color Burst. Got a great deal on sets on Blitsy.com. IMHO, I find that the brusho are more exciting than color bursts because of the way the pigment reacts when the spray gets to it. Never know all that you will get. I also love the color bursts, but add to the brusho when I want to intensify a certain color in a specific area. My daughter and I played with both one evening. We had a messy delightful ball! We now have a collection of backgrounds.
So, Lydia, you done inspired me at 4:32 am to do something with them. I have already begun to add Distress Crayons to see what happens. Here is a collage of sample work Blair and I did. (I posted on instagram yesterday). Doesn't do justice to the intensity of the colors. We just sprayed water both before and after pigments were sprinkled on. Just experimenting. We used our fingers and paper towels and let it drip. Didn't use brushes. Of course we had our Ken Oliver Best Craft Mats Ever (and they are) and plenty of paper towels.

This is Blair's Trees. Isn't it amazing that trees can have blue leaves

I have both Brushos and Color Bursts. I probably lean toward the Brushos more due to the mix of color in their powders; they're much more interesting to me when mixed with water, yet each have their qualities.

There are some good videos out by Rubbernecker on their newer line of stamps using Color Bursts with them. You could easily interchange Brushos. You make a thick paint with the powders using little water and paint on the solid stamp, then stamp with the outline stamp and you've got a great watercolor look - so easy!

Lydia, your work is by far the best I've seen with the powdered watercolors. Thx so much for the inspiration!
