Default Brass Stencil Storage

How do you store brass stencils? I have a collection of various sizes and shapes and digging through a drawer just doesn't work.

I store mine in a small photo album - I just insert them in the plastic sleeves, and when I want to use one, it's easy to find, I just flip through it.

Same here. I have a couple that are too big to fit in the photo album sleeves; I keep those in a coupon-organizer-divided-wallet-type-thingy.

Me too. I have 4 albums and they are sorted by Holidays so it's easier to grab the photo album I need instead of going thru each one.

Thanks, I'll try the albums. I think if it was easy to find what I want I would use them more.

I like the albums - I may use them more if I do that, too. Mine are just in an SU plastic clamshell case. Thanks for asking and for the tip!

The ones that match SU Stamp Sets, I put in the clamshell storage boxes with the sets...Usually they fit (except the large round one). :-) LM

I have a tall tin box with a lid. I decorated it with designer stampin up paper and ribbons on the handle. It sits on my bookcase and is easy to grap and look through.

Default Brass Stencil Storage

I store mine in small mini photo albums I pick up at Michael's or dollar store. For each sleeve I've dry embossed the stencil's outline so that if I remove a stencil I know where it goes back to. I've grouped the stencils that I have by theme and used the tab punch to make tabs so I know where to go for example to look for Christmas stencils or Valentines. This also helps my customers who also like to use stencils. Hope this helps.

Default Me too!

I also use the mini photo albums, but I photo copy the template and put it in the sleeve to use when putting the templates back away.

I have two books. One is a 3 ring binder with photo sleeves, mostly 5X7 in it. That holds the larger ones. The other book is a smaller photo album for 4x6 pictures and it holds the medium size and small ones.

I have a Lasting Impressions album that I use since it is manufactured for brass templates. I have also seen people use small CD holders

me too. i was also told to store the books standing. the reason being the weight of the stencils could and will bend those of different sizes. so don't store them laying flat.

I use my Clip It Up top tier for all my stencils, keeps them out and visable so I will actually USE them!! I had them in a photo album but over time they got a film on them, it felt kinda sticky and would occasionally leave a mark on my paper. I used rust cleaner and now they are perfect, hanging up and I use them a ton!! HTH

Lasting Impressions makes storage pages with pockets in different sizes to fit their stencils. The pocket sizes correspond with the letter at the beginning of each stencils model #. The pages fit in a regular 3-ring binder.

I keep mine in a zippered 3-ring binder in different size pocket sheets I bought from CropStop.

I have one 3-ring binder for brass (and other metal) stencils, one for embossing folders, and one for cutting dies.

I have this same dilemma. Am thinking of trying baseball card storage pages for a binder.

Default Sturdy pages?

I've been looking around for these plastic pocket pages to store my brass embossing stencils but have heard that they are not very sturdy for storing the brass stencils!
Have you had any problems with the pages splitting from taking the stencils in and out?
I was thinking they were on the order of scrapbook page plastic pockets. The. Ones I have are fairly sturdy! What are your thoughts on this way of storing the stencils? I have almost 100 of them in a box and that's not the best idea...some have bent a little! Thanks for your time!

Default BRASS STENCIL STORAGE

HI, I use the plastic folders for baseball cards & find they are very sturdy, I keep them in a binder. I probably also have around 100, with many on the same page, makes it easy to locate & I have them broken down into categories, like Christmas, etc. Some of the smaller ones can slip out, but the average sized ones fit exactly and it is way more convenient than in a box, which is what I used to use. For the larger ones, I do have them in a cigar box. Hope this helps.

I had mine in photo albums, but was starting to get damage to the plastic from the edges of some stencils. I've swapped to using a Really Useful Box and CD sleeves. The CD sleeves are very strong- not the paper ones, the clear ones- and I have stuck a label in to divide them up- floral, Christmas etc- yes, I have way too many, lol.
