I do have a question and maybe I'm not using the plates correctly but I've gone through several sets of plates already as they seem much more malleable and warp way easier than my Cuttlebug plates ever did. Is anyone else having this problem? Can the Cuttlebug plates be used in the Big Shot? |
People have commented that Sizzix has changed their plates to a new supplier and they wear out quicker than the old ones. I only use my large newer style plates when I need to do something oversize and still use my old plates from my original Big Shot in the Big Shot Plus. Those plates are over five years old and they see a lot of use. They're just starting to crack along the edges now. The key to extending the life of any cutting plates is placing your dies all over the surface and not just in the center, and flipping your plates regularly. This will prevent warping. Some prefer to keep the top cutting plate with no cuts in it but I flip both of my clear cutting plates to a different combination and orientation every time I use the machine.
Others not happy with the newer plates have opted to go to a windshield repair store or even Hope Depot type stores and having plexiglass sheets cut to size. Apparently it is not very expensive and they are of a higher quality.
