Default You can make digi stamps using Dingbat fonts....

For the "Miss Froggy" on this birthday card for my brother, I used a dingbat font call "KiddyDing"...I used the "w" for the frog and the "q" for the mushroom. I used Photoshop CS3, but you can use whatever graphics program you have. In the software I set the frog on top of the mushroom and "erased" the portion of the mushroom that was underneath the frog. I also wanted the frog to be a girl frog, so I added eyelashes and some lips. The cupcake was a piece of clipart that I printed, colored and cut out and added some liquid applique to. For more details about this card, please go to my blog: http://yorkiemomsblog.blogspot.com/

With all of the dingbats out there, you will be amazed at all the digital stamps you can create and color!!! I know this does not replace "traditional" rubber/clear stamps......it just gives you a lot more to choose from!!!

Here's a great website for all kinds of different dingbat fonts to use.

You can also create brushes in Photoshop using stamped images or electronic dingbats, etc:

1. If using stamps - stamp out an image onto paper and scan it

2. Show the electronic image or dingbat in Photoshop

3. Make sure that it is on a layer and not a background (Window>layers) If the layer comes up as a Background, double click and save as layer and drag the background layer into the dustbin. If it is already a layer, proceed onto step 4.

4. Make sure the Mode is set to RGB (Image>Mode)

5. Select all (Select>All)

6. Select>Colour Range then click on the coloured and / or white area around the image using the paint dropper tool then use the Delete key on your keyboard to delete the colour information.

7. Finally, select all again then go to Edit>Define Brush preset. A dialogue box will pop up give the image (now a brush preset) a name.

8. To try it out, open a new window, select the brush from the tool menu and click on the screen. You might need to open the Brush Presets (Window>Brushes) and scroll to the end as this is usually where PS places new brushes. The beauty is that the image can be resized, reflected, etc, as you wish.

I guess the only drawback I can think of is that printer ink is generally water soluble but can be fixed with hairspray or a commercial fixative usually used on print outs of digital photographs. For you lucky gals (and boys) with laser printers, this won't be an issue for you. Fix the ink then colour and embellish to your heart's desire.

I love your froggy dingbat Pam! (ps - I have four real-frog pets too, you can see them on my blog). Must download this dingbat; thanks for sharing.
