Heart Using Fabric to make Cards

I have bought some beautiful Christmas material - tulle with sparkles, etc. that I would like to use on cards. I'm looking for ideas, sample cards using fabric, tutorials, what glues to use, etc. All suggestions are welcome. Thanks for your help.

I have ironed some shoot let me think of the name, its stuff that you iron to the back of the fabric, then die cut it into what ever shape and iron it onto the cardstock. this comes in 2 kinds. one kind you can after ironing onto the cardstock run it through your sewing machine for "authentic" stitches type look and the other is such a heavy strong fuse that you do NOT want to run it through your machine.

( I am at work so I cannot go grab the package but, will look for a mug shot to show you what I mean)

I think that stuff may be called heat and bond by what I wrote on the descriptions but, I know if you go into joanns fabrics and explain to them what you are looking for someone can find it for you. AND its usually NOT on sale so, if you have a coupon...

Hi Stacy, Thank you so much for the information on fabric cards. I'll get some heat and bond and try making some cards using fabric. The cards I make I'll upload to the gallery. Thanks again.

its name really is Heat and bond by the way. I checked when I got home

so, I tend to do pieces that are say the size of a sheet of paper and do several pieces at once so I end up with stacks of "fabric Papers" that can be die cut later.

have fun!

Here is a link to a card I did with fabric (dress and apron) somewhere in my long winded story you will find how I adhered the fabric. I will post this now and look for more.

Here is another one
MIX92 Weirdo Arty Girl in Pink by susie australia - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

You mentioned tulle, many craft glues will stick fabric, I have been used glue sticks. The trick is to let the fabric covered card stock plenty of time to dry before you stamp on it or cut it. Hope this helps.

You could use the tulle as a Christmas tree skirt. Or over dark paper to represent sky. a ballerina's tutu. Use with a mannequin or dress form stamp. Use as "tissue paper" with gift bag images. Just the first thoughts that came to my head.

I used tulle as the veil on a card I did of a lady with a large hat.

We'd love to see what you end up with.

-try sewing a piece of the tulle onto a card base as a background.-cut a thin strip and "ruffle" it to make a ribbon type accent

I came across this video yesterday and thought I'd share. While is isn't using tulle type fabric, it still might give some ideas and inspiration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScX1HlJRa64

just love her and her video's!
