Smile Using a crackle medium

I was reading my new Creating Keepsakes and they had an article on using crackle medium to give paper a vintage look. One of the projects that I am working on is a heritage album and I would love to do this but here is my question. Is the medium that you can purchase at Lowe's etc. safe for my scrapbook? I would love to use it on tags etc! Thanks!

I know you can buy a crackle medium in the craft section at wal-mart's. It's with the acrylic paints by Delta. However, I don't know about the safety of using it in scrapbooks.
