Tumbled Tiles - GRRRRR!!!
Okay, I did my little "SCS Research" before stamping on the tiles.
I used StazOn and was going to color in with Sharpies. The images stamped fine and I waited more than enough time for them to dry. But when I went to color the image in with the Sharpie, the StazOn ink started bleeding. Grrrrrrrr!!!!! :x I've been wanting to make some as gifts and now I'm frustrated! |

Mine did the same thing. I finally baked them after stamping with staz on and then colored them in. Worked fine.
You can also use your heat gun to set the ink too. Good Luck. |
I did the same thing as Julie and heat set the stazeon first then colored in. I hope you don't get discouraged, it will work. Have fun,

I just recently tried this for the first time. I stamped the image in Staz-On, baked in my toaster oven (four 4X4 files fit perfectly), at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Then I colored in (after they cooled) with Sharpies and chalks. No bleeding, and they turned out great! Hope this helps.

Re: Tumbles Tiles & Chalks
When you color with chalks, do you have to seal the tiles afterward? What do you use to apply the chalks with?

Some of the posts I read said that if you used StazOn and colored with Sharpies you wouldn't have to bake them.
But once it started bleeding I figured that I would probably have to bake them after all. Ugh!! Has anyone ever used the Classic pads and Krylon Sealer? I had somebody tell me that's what their friend does. I'm wondering if it would rub off. |

I stamp on the tiles all the time with the Craft ink. I just clean the tiles then stamp whatever image I want witht Craft ink then I put them in the oven for a little while just to dry the ink. After that, I put a matte finish spray over them. I have had 2 different stamp days here at my house and that's all my girls do. They love them. They make them in sets of 4 or 6 for gifts. Another thing we do is stamp in the Black Craft ink, put in oven to dry and them get them out and use a paint brush with craft ink and color them in. Dry them again and spray with sealant. You can also use a sponge with craft ink and get some really neat looks. I think craft ink looks the best and last the best.

When I've used chalks, I do seal them. I'd be afraid that the chalk would rub off.
Also, I was going to use the new 'liquid' chalk pads and see how that turns out. I'll let you guys know! Lauren~ |
The reason the Stazon bleeds with Sharpies is because their basic "recipe" is the same. The sharpie basically re-wets the stazon. I don't have Fabrico Markers (I do NEED some), but haven't seen their ingredients to see if they would do the same. If I chalk them, I seal with krylon.

Don't give up on the tiles, WaterPixie! It looks like a couple of folks here have figured out a way around the ink problem. |
I have Fabrico Markers and they do not bleed. I do not seal them and have not had any problem with them running later either.
