Tiles
I just finished up a workshop and someone brought a tile for coasters to show me. I have looked here and they all sealed theres with matte sealer and the lady I saw told me to put it in the oven at 350 fror 30 mins. Does anyone have any ideas??

I did some once with a lovely detailed collage-y looking stamp a couple years ago.... stamped them in a brown craft ink and baked them. No additional coloring and no sealing.

Well, this is what I've seen here: If you stamp with StazOn and color with sharpies, then bake, you don't need a sealer.
If you stamp with StazOn, color with anything else, then bake, you still need to seal them. However, I will say this.....there are many different ways to do this listed here on SCS, and I thinkit all depends on the type of tile you are using. :) |
I do both. I bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes and then I seal 3 times. I am overly cautious I guess. I use the rialto tiles though, and they have some sor of finish on them before you begin.

I've only done magnets with stazon and sharpies and I didn't seal them or bake them. |
I did this yesterday for the first time! I used tumbled marble tiles, not the Rialto ceramic, and one is absorbing condensation from my glass of iced tea right now. I stamped the outline in Stazon and colored with permanent Sharpies. The tiles were baked, but not sealed. If they look this terrific after a few days, I'm making sets for gifts!

I stamped mine with Fabrico and baked 30 minutes. Colored in with Fabrico markers & baked another 30 minutes. NO SEALER. Seems like that would defeat the purpose of a "coaster". JMO
