Tile Magnets... HELP PLEASE.

I had posted another message asking for advice, but no replies :( Last night I tried making the tile magnets and 72 tiles later... I have more questions...

Were the tiles supposed to be the unfinished marble tiles (like the coasters) only smaller?

What size MAGNETS do you use on the back of the unfinished marble 2x2" tiles? I got the 1/2" magnets, but I don't think they're going to be strong enough :( .

HELP... PLEASE... I really don't want all this work to go to waste :-(

thanks.

I used a sheet of glazed floor tiles that I cut apart. They were each about 2X2. For the magnets, I too was worried about holding up but I used a circular magnet and it held as far as I know. I gave them all away as presents and haven't heard any complaints. I don't know the exact dimensions of the magnet but I swear I read it on a gallery instruction on this very site.

Yup, for magnets I generally use the matte glazed floor tiles. You can used the tumbled too, it's just a different look. Make sure you seal them if using watercolor pencils, chalks, etc. I use a round magnet that is 1" in diameter and 1/8" thick which I hotglue on the back. The magnet is overkill if your goal is just to hold the magnet to the surface, but I like to use my magnets to hold junk on the fridge and can't stand it when they start sliding down the front of the fridge. KWIM? I can hold several sheets of paper on the fridge with no problem!

You might also try searching for more advice on the tiles. The topic comes up frequently and the ladies always have tons of great advice!
