Smile Stamping with glitter...

Hi everyone,

I need some help. I would like to use glitter on some of my pages but I'm not sure how to do this. I want to stamp the image and add glitter to the stamped image. Any suggestions on how to do this? Also how can i seal the glitter to the page after I've stamped it. (so the glitter stays on the image and I don't get it everywhere?) I've tried to use versa mark and that hasn't worked. Thanks for all your help.

Here is what you need to stamp images with glitter. You use the glue pad like you would an ink pad, stamp your image, and then sprinkle glitter over it and let it dry. No need to use a heat gun or seal. When it dries, the glitter adheres. You can order it here, or at other places online. I haven't found this in my local stores yet, so I ordered online.

Here is a page on a blog showing the result using the glue pad to stamp images:

I use tinsel embossing powders. They give the look of glitter but is used and heated like embossing powder. I got the tinsel embossing powders a few years ago for some Christmas cards I was working on and I got them from either Hobby Lobby or Micheals.

I have found that you have to use a medium for the glitter to stick to and if you just use a versa mark pad it doesn't work so well. Have you tried a glue stamp pad?

I love the look of glitter for the right project, but hate the mess of glitter. I have a quickie glue pen that I use for just a drop of glitter and I have even used glitter glue from crayola...I admit that!

There are a few methods to use glitter on stamped images. There's the glue pad like Bugga mentioned and the tinsel powders that Staysearn15 mentioned. You can mix glitter right into your embossing powder. I've done this a few times and it works well. There's also an embossing like powder that turns to a glue when melted and then you dump you glitter on it, heat again a little, and then the glitter is set in the glue and will stay put once cooled. There are a couple different brands, but the one I have is Heat n Stick from SU!
ETA: I should add that you stamp first with a watermark ink like Versamark and then use the heat n stick powder.

And don't forget Stickles. If you just want small areas glittered, they work great and they aren't as messy.

stickles are the best I think b/c its one easy step....the glue pad works too and I think the angel company sells it too...I have used stickles a lot on my sb pages and loose glitter with the green and white bottle mono glue works great too...

Default Glitter Pens!!

Try glitter pens. Better control, dry faster and not as messy as Stickles or regular glitter. You can get them in lots of colors at the Big Box stores.
