Stamping on Candles

Hi all - was looking through the technique pages, as I often do. There's some stuff there I always want to try but just don't always have the tools or necessities to do them!!! So, I go back every once in a while after my stocks have built up a bit to see what new technique I can now turn my hand to. Well, I've been looking at stamping on candles for a while - such a clever idea. But I was wondering about a couple of things and thought that this would be the best place to ask the questions.

Firstly, has anyone tried "imbedding" a tissue paper imaged that had been embossed first? What I was thinking of was using silver embossing powder on an image and then seeing if it will transfer to the candle. Would appreciate any thoughts/advice on this or any "success" stories (or failures, I guess - LOL!!!).

Secondly, I have SU! Watercolour Pencils and the Pastels - would either of these work with this technique?

Look forward to hearing from anyone who wants to respond.

Thanks.

Cav

Hi Cav,
I have *heard* you can emboss then transfer (embed as you put it) on to the candle--Haven't tried it.

I have tried pastels--works great (especially on light colored candles. The wax paper leaves a thin layer of wax to set them.

I suggest getting some cheap small candles to practice. Try the pencils--the only thing is the tissue might rip.
