sprial notepads

I see so many little sprial notabooks, the pocket ones, covered so cleverly, however, my question is? How do you cover the front? With the spiral top, I am wondering if there is a way you get the paper in there. I am guessing you all cover the top casue I havent seen any plain covered ones.

If anyone has directions, please let me know.

TIA
Amy

I would also like to know how to make these notepads. In fact, I already have them bought but I haven't attempted to make any yet.

Hi Amy and Kathy,

Take a rubber band and rap it around the pages. Then turn the spiral wire until you got it out of the paper. Then cut a piece of CS the size of the pages and punch holes at the same place the pages have holes. Decorate your cardstock. Now take the wire and spiral it back into the pages. That's all.

Hugs and smiles.

Beate, Thank you, I can't wait until I get home from work to try a decorate a notebook and make a journal for a birthday present that should have been in the mail Monday

Actually, there's an easier way to make these. Cut a cardstock cover the same size and shape as the original cover. Tear out one of the pages, and use it as a template to punch holes in the cardstock. Carefully snip from the top edge into each hole. Cover the original notebook cover with good, non-wrinkling glue (I use Yes glue), and smooth the new cover on. Be sure to get glue along the top edge, inside the spiral. You may need to use a stylus or other tool to get all the little tabs stuck down tight, but once they're glued the cuts will practically disappear. I like to cover the back, too, while I'm at it, to really finish it off.

Thank you for solving the mystery of the notebook cover, Beate! I just recently picked up a bundle of the notebooks at the dollar store and when I got home with them it dawned on me that I had absolutly no idea how to recover them without a "dorky homemade look"! Can't wait to try your method.

Barb, that sounds so much easier. Thanks a bunch.

Have a great weekend. Hugs and smiles.
