Spectrum Pad Techniques
 

I finally desided I want to use my spectrum pads instead of collecting them. I just looked in the Gallery under Spectrum and looked through 101 pages of cards!!! Lots of great ideas there. I wanted to put together a list of techniques using the Spectrum Pads. Anyone have one? We can start here and list them.

I know of these few:
Versamark Resist
Brayer Bounce
Josephs Coat
Expressionist watercolor
Direct to Paper
Rainbow Flip Strip


Thats all I can think of at almost 2am this morning. Time for bed.

I'm posting to get some ideas also.since I love my spectrum pads.I only wish SU carried more of them.

what is brayer bounce.

Just bringing this back to the top since I found it again.I really like this look behind the birthday bg stamp.I just ordered this and need some ideas this is a great one for that stamp.I was also thinking about using lets party to stamp a birthday theme behind it to add even more to the card.

These actually use Kaleidacolor pads but I believe those are similar to the Spectrum pads - 5 colors?

I am thinking that that is the technique we used in the February VSN where we were told to ink up a large solid stamp and then brush on colors for a design or picture directly to the stamp...then mist and stamp it. Picasso Painting I think it was called. Would that be impressionistic watercolor technique?

Are you saying to put a solid color all over the stamp then splotches of color around on it?

I have a ?, I don't know the name of the technique but it is when the spectrum pad is used as a stamp, and then something is usually stamped over that. Anyway my ? is.... how is that done? I know that sounds really silly to ask, but I've tried 2 or 3 times and mine comes out too wet or something. Maybe it's the paper? I'm using SU ultra smooth white. If you have any advice let me know. Oh yeah, I did just think of something, I'm using Kaleidocolor pads, not the spectrum pads.

How do I make my own spectrum pad?
 

I just saw a gorgeous sample with a spectrum pad made with regal rose, apricot appeal and one other color (I can't remember which one). She said that she made her own spectrum pad. Does anyone know how to do that?

You can either use an emplty spectum pad and ink it with reinkers. ( I would only do this if it is one of my favorite color combos)

Or you can use a baby wipe and ink it up in rows like a spectrum pad, and use it and dispose of it once its dry. Its like a disposable spectrum pad. I would try this way first, and when you get that perfect combo you really like, then get an emply one and ink it up.

Thanks so much! I will definitely try the baby wipe technique first. Sounds soooo much simpler (and less expensive).

Bouncing brayer (although it is then cut and some are rotated) is the background
and Joseph's Coat is the foreground:
