snow for Christmas Trees

Would someone please share with a newby, the easiest, most natural looking way to add snow on a tree?
TIA

I like to use white applique...once heated it looks like snow on the trees.

just my 2 cents HTH

I just picked up something called snow writer, made by DecoArt at our Ben Franklin for $1.99 for a 2 fl oz tube!!! It works really great and a little goes a long way.

I'll have to look for the pen when I go to Ben Franklin's next week. Thanks

Is liquid Applique a SU product?

WeLove2Stamp 11-23-2004 03:47 PM

ditto the liquid applique suggestion.

grace 11-23-2004 03:48 PM

Just checked and it's not in the new catty. I know Ben Franklin's and Michael's sell it though.

gsocat 11-23-2004 03:49 PM

Thanks so much...I'll be going to M's or BF's tomorrow.

Just thought I'd mention that you only need a little bit!

Liquid applique is in the holiday "mini" and I believe can be ordered after the mini expires. #101626

We just did something like this @ stamp camp this past weekend - if you don't want a dimension look:

We stamped the tree onto glossy card stock, used crayon to color where you want the 'snow', then sponged another color on top of that, let dry, wiped off the crayon - the tree looked like it had snow!!!

grace 11-23-2004 04:19 PM

Will have to try that one. Thanks

Well, I usually just put the tree outside.

But this year we may not get much snow before xmas.

I already have quite a few out there...and I like to try to emulate the beauty of them on my cards... mother nature knows best.

i bought liquid applique and decided i had a bad tube cause it was all smooth and shiny.. every one else always looks bubbled up.. then.. i hear you have to heat it up???? is this how i get the cool effect??? or do i really have a bad tube? i looks like i poured a glassy finish everywhere when i use it.. i wasnt all that impressed.
maybe it is just the dingbat user.. huh?

SU sell Liquid Applique in the Holiday Mini but it's a Marvy Uchida product. Check their web site.

you do need to heat it to get it to bubble up...and in case you haven't tried to get some Crystal effects to "dry faster" by heating it you would not know it but it too will bubble up! I found that out by mistake! But it is cool anyway and didn't ruin the card, I just had some dimension and glitter without realizing what I was doing! LOL

I didn't know you had to heat liquid applique at first either and I thought I had a bad tube, it was cream colored and flat! I found out you can heat it up even after it has dried a long time and it still works! So go get your embossing tool now and try it and see if it works! Makes great snow or fur on Santa's hat and coat!

I bought some snow tex at Michaels that is a white paint with texture.
It is found in the aisle with the paints. I used it to make some snow
flakes I had to do at a demo at Michaels.

I've been told that if you leave the Applique for 24hrs it works better than heating it right away...I've never taken the time though.

tc82742 11-25-2004 04:18 AM

wow.. thanks guys.. err.. girls..

after i get off scs.. and put the turkey in.. i will heat it up...

scs is so much more fun than cooking.. ya know?

I love Liquid Applique, but I've also used my Versamarker and Detail White Embossing Powder to get the snow effect. Here is a sample using the pinecones from the Close to Nature set. Watching Liquid Applique puff up is fun though !!!
