Rusty look with Copics?
 

I saw a card recently made with a digi stamp (I even have it!), and the artist colored it with Copics but made it look rusty. It was a rusty old truck. The artist is one of the Copic teachers, but honestly, I can't afford to pay for all of the classes to learn one technique. :( Does anyone know of one class or a video tutorial? Does anyone even understand what I'm looking for? LOL

There are tons of free coloring tutorials in our resources section: Resources: Tutorials for Card Making, Craft Techniques & Projects - Splitcoaststampers with various mediums - markers, pencils, watercolor (just type "coloring" in the search box)- and also on YouTube. The key is to keep practicing with whatever medium you're working in! :)

This looks like a technique I have done with Touch Twin Markers... maybe try searching Youtube for a video on palette blending.

This tutorial in the resource section has the basics of palette blending in Step 4, but shows blending in a similar color rather than a contrasting color like the brown. Splitcoaststampers - Alcohol Markers Technique Tutorial by Kate Sanders

The colouring looks great so please don't think I'm downplaying it by saying this but I'm not sure I'd consider that a specific technique - it's simply using blue for the painted areas of the truck and brown for the rusty areas with some blending of edges in the transitions from rusty to non-rusty areas. You could achieve a similar look with any number of colouring media (pencils, watercolours etc) using those colour families. As Lydia says, experiment and practise and you'll get there! The tutorial Dini linked to is a good one if you want to do the transitions with Copics.
