Okay, so I just started stamping a coupe of months ago, made a few birthday cards but was really excited to make my own Christmas cards this year - ever! I have about 35 done (just 5 more left to do). As I have completed them I have out them aside in another room so they don't get ruined. I pulled them out last night to start distributing and any card I put ribbon on the ribbon has popped off the card! I used a glue tape because, well frankly I don't know any different. I can push the ribbon back on the exsisting glue that is there, it is still sticky, but is there something better to be using than this to keep it on? I would hate for my first effort of cards to fall apart after someone receives them - that wouldn't look very good and then I'd feel terrible.
Most of my ribbon runs across the front of the card and I just wrap it around the inside of the card and glue it down on the inside.
Help - and thanks.
This red liner tape is available at the Joanns, Michaels & WalMart stores in my area. It is in the adhesive section of the papercrafting in these stores.
Also, I have laid cards flat and put a little weight on them overnight so that the the sticky parts would stay stuck thereby being permanent where I placed them. I also put a small glue dot under the knot. The only time I had a layer fall off was when I used cheap repositionable tape.
Last year was the first time I made my own Christmas cards. I don't send out many so this year I just made them all different with whatever I had. It's fun, isn't it, to be a little more personal with a card that you made especially for someone.

Stampin' Up! sells this tape also! Sticky Strip # 104294 It is well worth having a couple rolls on hand for your cardmaking and scrapbooking! When I first heard about this tape they were joking about it being strong enough to build a house with it! It is permanent and once it is stuck down it doesn't let go! I love this tape and use it alot. Glue dots are really strong also. Stampin' Up! Mini Glue Dots # 103683 or Pop-Up Glue Dots # 104183.
I agree, the sticky strip is fantastic! I have found it at Michael's in at least 3 different widths. They are right about the holding power, so make sure you have your ribbon positioned exactly where you want it because you only get one shot with this stuff!
But you could also add a layer of cardstock and wrap the ribbon edges around to the back of the layer, then adhere that to the card itself. That way the edges also don't show.
My SU! demo is also a huge advocate of what she calls "cheater knots". So if you want a knotted look on the front of the card, rather than wasting ribbon wrapping the entire piece of cardstock, just wrap a piece of ribbon around the edges and then tie an extra bit of ribbon in a knot around the main piece of ribbon. kwim?
i love love love the red tape. I have it in all three widths just because I am paranoid that I will not have the size I need when I go to use, that's how much I love the red tape.
An alternative to double-stick tape is the one hole ribbon, demonstrated on the video tutorial here at All Inked Up blog: http://wannastamp.blogspot.com/2007/...log-candy.html I use both methods and also sometime stick a glue dot in the tied area to reduce the chances of the bow becoming untied.
I use SU glue dots, I also put weight on my cards to make sure. I seem to have a home that glue does not want to work in, it looks good but just as I am putting card in envie everything seems to pop off.
