Default Question about templates?

I am curious about how you can make your own template into a cut file.
I am not sure how to do this and I have googled, but I don't see what I want.
Mabe I am not wording it correctly.
I am in the process of making a box and I want to be able to convert that into a cut file, so I can cut it with my cricut using scal.
Anyone know how I go about doing this?

Oh I hope someone knows the answer to your question! I am new to SCAL and have so many questions on how to do what I want to do with the program. Hopefully someone will have some answers.

Do you have a scanner? I have scanned patterns in as a jpg file and then let SCAL trace it.
There is also a wonderful video tutorial I found that lets you make a mat on your cricut for a stamped image (scanned in). You have to play with it a bit, but it works great! Also to get to know your SCAL program better check out the videos that SVGCuts.com makes. Leo has made his tutorials easy to follow.

I've had my SCAL for a year now and there is ALWAYS something new to learn! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my SCAL program!

Here are some links:

ScrappingTable.com - Welcome, Sure Cuts A Lot & Cricut Resources (she has some good info too!)
HTH!

Thank you so much for this information, Sandy. You have made my day!! I knew I wasn't even beginning to understand what I could do with this program but now I have a place to start looking. Thanks a bunch!

I forgot to mention this link Penny does some great stuff and has free svg files - if you have trouble figuring out her file system let me know. Took me quite awhile to finally get it right, but she has great stuff. Also go on YouTube and type what you want to do or work with (such asSCAL, Sure Cuts a Lot, Cricut, chalking, etc) How-to videos are all over the place. Some you'll like some, not so much - but it has been a great resource for me.
