Polyshrink Dilemma
Okay, I got the stuff after seeing my upline use it. Thought it was neat. Can't make it WORK!!!
I'm trying to use the heart from 'Hope Is...' to make a charm. I stamped with Rose Red, but when I heated it, the ink basically disappeared. How the heck do I get it to stay on? Do I let the ink dry before trying to shrink the charm? KGidget - who's getting tempted to pitch the whole mess |
Polyshrink
I used the Hope Is heart and did a polyshrink and didn't have any problem at all using classic ink. I believe I used Rose Romance. It should get darker. But I always let mine dry somewhat before heating.
did you use a heat gun or the oven? I always use a heat gun. |
I have only used Black Stazon to stamp on polyshrink, it's a permanent ink, solvent based. SU sells it in differernt colours. I haven't tried other types of inks.

Okay, I used a classic ink with the first one. Didn't let it dry to long, then used a heat gun. Ink mostly disappeared, and what did remain came off on my fingers when I touched it.
Tried a second one with StaZon black, coloured the heart in with pastels. That one worked. I've set it with a Krylon spray as the pastels still came off a bit. Oh, and this time I lightly sanded the polyshrink before stamping on it. Guess I'll change the card from chocolate chip and pink to black and pink. Aw well, that's all part of the creative process, eh? :D Thanks for the pointers, ladies. KGidget |
Always sand the polyshrink in the first place in a cross hatch pattern. (back and forth, then up and down) to get the ink to stay. But yes, you need to use permanent ink or it bleeds (spreads out) and you get fuzzy lines. Pencil crayons work great for colouring and don't come off as easily as the chalk.

Pencil crayons?!? Cool...now I have another reason to raid the kid's crayon box. :D (I've already stolen the white one for crayon resist..yes, I now know it works better with wax crayons, but I've made it work with pencil crayons too). Wondering...would watercolour pencils work too? Hmm...I'm going to have all this polyshrink used up before my class next week.
