Pearl Ex - How do I use it?
 

I recently bought some Pearl Ex but am a bit confused on the many ways to use it. So far I stamped with VersaMark, then used a child's stiff paint brush to pounce the Pearl Ex onto the image. Nice effect, just very messy. Can you give me any advise on other ways to use this?

Oh, that's just the beginning!

Yes, it's messy stuff to use. In order to get some of the "haze" off of what you did with the Versamark (particularly beautiful on darker cardstock) use a Swiffer cloth to gently remove the excess. It's also a good way of cleaning up your work area.

Now, what else?

a) Put 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. of PE in a small sample sized pump bottle of hairspray. Shake well, spritz on your cardstock and you have a lovely shimmery background! It will curl dreadfully at first, and then relax.

b) Fill a water brush (a brush with a hollow handle) with Future Floor Wax. Dip this into your jar of Pearl Ex and paint directly on your cardstock. The Future will seal the Pearl Ex. It's very pretty. You'll have to dedicate the brush to Future, though. I wrote "Future" on the side of mine so I could tell the difference.

c) Emboss a solid image on dark cardstock using clear embossing powder. While it's still warm, rub some PE over the image, then briefly heat to set the powder into the image.

d) Mix with Pearl White Lumiere to make your own custom colors of Lumiere.

e) Mix with embossing powder to get interesting effects when you emboss.

f) Mix with white glue and dab on black glossy cardstock with a sponge.

g) Spray the hairspray you made above on a piece of glossy that has been brayered with a darker color. Heat with your heat gun. It will bubble and crackle and produce an interesting metallic finish.

h) Mix with gum arabic and water to create your own paint.

I'm sure I've missed something, but that's all I can think of right now!

Jan i haven't experienced much with PE either..just a question tho,would that be safe to incorporate into scrapbooks or should that be avoided and just used for other projects?...again ty for the suggestions...i'm gonna experiment!! :D
