paint can template?
Finally made it to Home Depot yesterday and picked up my first paint can. I'd like to make one for a friend of my son's birthday. Sat down to assess my cardstock needs and I realized I don't know where to start. Going around the handle seems a bit challenging. Anyone have a template for the bottom layer that goes around the can? And the lid?
TIA you folks are the best! ~Gina |

TIA you folks are the best! ~Gina It's right here: http://forums.splitcoaststampers.com...ad.php?t=49201 Be sure to follow all the download directions to get the template to your computer. Just clicking on the file name probably will not work. Cyndie |
Cyndie,
Thanks ever so much! I'm psyched to be able to getting started this morning. It's going to rain all day here. Have a great one! ~Gina |
Any tips for getting the right size circle for the lid?
TIA, ~Gina |

Thanks again for your guidance, Cyndie! Here is a pic of my finished can for a soon-to-be-three year old.
I am filling it with a knitted fun fur scarf and headband (for dress up purposes), a rainbow streamer, a harmonica, a pink shaker egg, purple Velcro bells, and a ready to make birthday mini-scrapbook. Have rhythm sticks too that don't fit in the can if I want the lid to be on it. Now back to knitting if I want the scarf and headband to be ready it time! ~Gina |

I just used a circle cutter set to cut a circle slightly smaller than the space it needed to occupy. Cyndie |
I rummaged through my tupperware cabinet and found a bowl smaller than the lid to trace. It's not perfect but good enough. Just dawned on me that the can itself can double as a drum so I'm about to order a mallet to go with it. Not likely that it'll fit inside the can so I think I'll put a metal key ring around the handle; the stick will go through it with the mallet head resting on top.
Thanks again. ~Gina |

Here is a picture of the scene I created for my next paint can; design inspired by one of my favorite cards in the gallery by Happy Heart. I need to buy the can still. You can see the circles where the holes will be. I need to get my swivel knife back from a friend to cut the card stock. For the other can I used scissors because the paper was only thin wrapping paper. I bought a string of shells at Party City with this can in mind.
Our main present for this child is a beach towel with a Candyland game board printed on it; it has big cards and playing pieces with it. It is a towel that is used as a game at the beach. Obviously it won't fit in the can. Inside the paint can I will put name stickers, a "purse" with C post it notes (see picture), a birthday mini-scrapbook, and Bath and Bodyworks kids toiletries (a duck sponge with soap inside, shampoo, and lip balm). I have a mini-license plate with her name on it. I will attach it to the handle of the can. ~Gina P.S. I fixed the fourth crab to match the others. |
