I need help, please!!!
ok, I have been reading about Future floor wax and the aqua painter. So my aqua painters came in yesterday, I went to Walmart and bought the Future wax, and to Michaels to get the Pearl ex.
Now, the next thing I did was fill the aqua painter w/the wax, put alittle pearl ex in a paper plate and dipped the tip of the aqua painter in the pearl ex. I was just practicing. Tonight, after I had made some Christmas cards, I checked the sample and it still smeared! I thought the future wax was suppose to prevent this! What did I do wrong??? Please help. Pinky |
What type of cardstock?

cardstock
I used a scrap piece of su card stock to try it out. Does it matter what kind of paper you use? I have never done this, so I do not know.
Thanks, Pinky |
If it was glossy cs, I'd see the problem of smearing; however, since you are using regular su cardstock I am stumped.
I too, filled one of my aquapainters with Future Floor Wax but have not had this issue. SCS'ers - anyone ever have this issue? I'd recommend trying it again but using more Future Floor Wax in proportion to the amount of PearlEx. Sorry I'm not more help. |
I'm stumped too. I show this technique a lot and have never had my pearl ex smear. I know that I only use the tiniest speck of pearl ex but have shown it on both US white and the confetti cardstock. I just checked some of my samples from 2 months ago and no smearing. Try what Cindy said and see how that turns out. Good luck. :)

squeeze
I would just squeeze the barrel a little more so you get more wax. I painted whole paper frames the other day and I can't get ANY pearl ex to smear off (I tried for you lol). It's okay if it gets a little wet, it will dry and set fine. HTH

I think you may have been using too much Pearl Ex. It takes so very little that all I do is tip the closed Pearl Ex jar upside down, turn it right side up and use whatever has stuck to the top of the jar lid. We're talking just a speck of product to do the job!

Also, I have heard that the Kraft and Confetti cardstock works best with the Aqua Painters, not the US White. I think these 2 absorb better than the white.

future and aqua painter
Thanks for all you tips. I will play w/this again today and report back to see if it works better. This time I am going to put it on a card.
I was using plain white card stock before and now I will use whatever I make my card with. Wish me luck, Thanks again, Pinky |
