The easiest way for me to wrap my brain around stuff like this is to use a piece of typing paper and follow the instructions, but write all the markings on the paper so I can work along with the tutorials. So for this, take a blank sheet of paper, score all the lines, and mark them so it's easier to follow the directions. Once you figure this out, you will see these are quite simple once you "get it"!
Let me try to explain the cuts for you---I hope I don't make things worse!
Lay your scored paper horizontally in front of you, as shown in the picture. The scores at 10,7,5,and 2 will run left to right, starting with the 10" score. There is a 1 1/2" wide section on the left side of the paper--this will be trimmed later to make the tab you will use to adhere the box together.
For the cuts:
Box Bottom:
Cut up from the bottom of the paper to the score line running across the paper--perpendicular to the 2,5,7,10 lines (which was done at 7" when the paper was turned the other way in Step 2.)
After you have cut up the 10" line, cut across the score line from the left edge of the paper to the 10" score line and remove the corner piece--it will be in the way when you try to fold the bottom. This is the notch in the bottom left of the picture in Step 4. These vertical cuts you made along the 2,5,7,and 10 scores will make the "flaps" that will be folded on top of each other to make the bottom of the box.
Box Top:
For the top of the box, cut across the 2" score line (this is the 2" score line form Step 2) from right to left, stopping where you scored at 7" (in the 10,7,5,2 scores). Then cut from the top edge down to the 2" score line (along the vertical 7" score line where you stopped cutting the other way) and remove that piece of cardstock.
Cut down from the top edge of the paper along the 10" score line to just below the horizontal 2" score line, then cut at an angle to the edge to create the angled tab as seen on the left side of the paper in Step 4.
The remaining three inch wide section will be the flap that goes over the top of the box once it's all put together. In the picture for Step 4, stop cutting once it looks like the picture--step away with the scissors!!!!!
From there the directions seem pretty clear.
Sure HTH! Good luck!
