Smile Gift Card Holders

I have seen (and received) many cute gift card holders, but I don't know how to make any of them. Does anyone have instructions on how to make any fun gift card holders? Does anyone have pictures of any samples? Thanks for the help!

I actually made a few this past Christmas using Bazzill library pockets and the SU slit punch. I didn't write any tutorial, but you can find the photo of the finished product here: http://www.katharses.org/archives/gift-card-holders

It's super easy, hope this helps!

You can also make a few adjustments and make it a money holder. Use a circle punch for the "face" of the bill to display it. Fun!

We have a great gift card holder tutorial in the resource section.

I used Double Pocket Cards to give away my gift cards before.

Thanks!! I've had those library pockets for over a year now and for the longest time i couldn't figure out what to do with them. Now they have a purpose!

great thread...
thanks for the great ideas!

sorry for the long post but....

I usually make this kind of card to hold a giftcard...
( not mine, I just did a search, "slider cards"...these are just off the top!)

Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

ATC tree slider by ninatar at Splitcoaststampers

Father's Day P/P Harley Card by dorothy Freber at Splitcoaststampers

I just make them the other way...horizontal orientation.
and the GC has to be in the top one, just because my experiments worked better that way for some unknown reason.

wouldn't you know it?
I haven't got my template handy here
(burried safely somewhere!) but it wasn't too hard to block it all out with some grid paper...
will post if I find.

I have made them for the normal 'credit card'-style gc's as well as customized "cheque" -sized paper ones that we bought from the cineplex theatres one year for everyone.

if you check out SCS techniques under resources there is a similar thing ... "double slider "
I'd like to try those next, so that the gc pops up in one of the surprises

how is that for ideas?

I like to put an extra effort in since I'm "just" giving the GC,
(mainly because it is usually not loads of money anyway iykwim... )
and actually, I don't mind the extra fiddly work since I get to skip the hectic shopping part!
I just need to start early when I decide to take a year off from making something for everyone and their dog
and NEED to I remind myself,
(it is hard)
that that is ALL I'm doing .
(I last took off the year that ds was born ...)
I made the kid-birthday ones at the same time since there are loads of NOV to FEB "winter babies" in the nieces and nephews. usually wintery too, just with "hb" sayings.

thanks again for the thread,
char

I would recommend using a "Nugget Box" template found in the Template section of the Gallery. I have used these before but not sure which one I used. I like to use basket filler to fill in some of the area of the box. I then use either matching ribbon or raffia to tie the boxed gift card shut.

I don't know if this is anything like what you have in mind or not, but Ive made one that looks like a present (at least in my mind LOL!) These are super easy to make. The template isnt anything fancy, but here it is. I just stamp (or write) a message under the card. Oops, forgot to include the template in case you are interested...

If you are really pressed for time, I did one at a party. It is super easy! It looks like a present.

Seal a small envelope, stamp it front and back, cut off the top about 1 1/2 inches with decorative scissors, run the larger/bottom section through the crimper, punch holes and put a bow on the top/smaller part (one layer only). Put the gift card in the crimped part and slide the top on.

I hope this makes sense!

It's amazing.....There seems no end to how you can make such a simple thing. Fancy or Plain, they all are unique.

Arrow Two or More Here

I've got two gift card holder videos in
my Video Gallery here.

There's a Scallop Circle one & a shirt card one. There's also a box called No Template Gift Box that could fit a gift card as well.

Enjoy!

I create a really quick and dirty tutorial for the library pocket gift card holders I made last year. You can read the tutorial here:

Thanks!

Wow - You gals are so talented!

For gift card holders, I'm into using the easy way out of cutting so I get mine pre-cut from Sheetload ShortCuts. (I'm too new here to post a link but if you google the term, they have a blog spot. Just click on the shopping cart to see what they sell.) ;)
