Default Explosion Boxes - Can you mail them?

Beate's explosion boxes are so adorable. Was wondering if you can mail them flat in a regular envelope? The top is what I am worried about. The bottom will go flat. Anyone tried it? They are too cute to not send out.

I'm not sure about mailing them. My concern would be that the recipient would lose the effect because of having to "assemble" it themselves (if the lid makes it unsmashed). I just finished my second one and love these things... although my sides cave in once I put the lid on ...not sure what I'm doing bu that's a different thread I just posted.

My first box did the same thing so I cut the box top larger, although I can't remember how much bigger I measured it....1/8" I think.

To the OP, I doubt you could mail them in a flat envie. You could package the card in a mailing box, though.

Default explosion box question please

how do some people get the extra flaps on the inside of the box? do they do 2 or 3 boxes together but only 1 lid? I really like how it has the extra insides so that you can add more pictures or sayings but don't understand how it was done.
thanks Ruth

Use sticky strip for the lid but don't peel the red things off yet. Send the lid flat too!

I have what I consider a very good link to explaining how to make an exploding box - let's see if I can type the link in correctly.

http://glitteradventure.blogspot.com...box-class.html

I hope that works. I have rec'd one from a friend and she mailed it in a sturdy box. I think it would lose it's effect - and might get bent up if you tried to send it in a flat envelope. She used just stamped images and prima flowers etc etc - but many use them as small memory boxes with pictures.

Hope that helps!

Here is a link to a slideshow of a very good card designer and seller of cards and exploding boxes in the UK. The slideshow will give you some beautiful ideas of exploding boxes. I have bought from her - she's a lovely person - and very talented too!

http://www.as-designed.com/page7.htm There.... hope the link works - I did copy and paste it....
