Different pastel techniques
Hi Girls
I'm a new SU demo and I have pastels in my starter kit. I'm looking for different ways to use my pastels. thanks. |
I thought i had an idea sheet for the pastels but don't.
Here is what comes to mind... of course you probably know they can be used with the blender pens..like a watercolor effect. you can use it dry to color things in, use it dry and rub different colors on a piece of paper and then using a stamp and versamark and stamping over the chalk...the versamark will pick up the dry chalk and it is like a reverse popin pastel...just make sure you clean your stamp off everytime. you can do popin pastels...stamp in versamark and then color over the versamark with the chalk...chalk will stick to the versamark. I know there is more but i can't get my brain to work very well this early...haha |
One of my favorites is to really scrub the pastels into a piece of Whisper White, then take a damp rag/sponge/paper towel and wipe the cardstock with it. This also "sets" the pastels so they won't wipe off later! You can stamp directly onto them or use the piece for layering. Caution: the piece will curl, especially if you put lots of water on it. Also you will probably get lots of color on your hands.
I find this technique makes a really cool sky . . . especially for winter scenes! |
Check out this Ways to Use It Challenge thread. We did pastels that week and there are some great samples there and if you scroll down to post #28 there is a pastel document technique sheet to open.
