creating a frame with your cuttlebug folders
 

I have just "discovered" how I can make a frame around a stamped image with a cuttlebug folder. I cannot however take credit for it.

If you've not visited Sue Nelson's blog, do it now!! It is full of great inspiration and wisdom.

look in her Christmas gallery at card #3303 See the "frame" of snowflakes around the snowmen image?

in her cuttlebug tutorial section, she explains how she did this and it is further discussed in the message boards. Its brilliant and so easy.
Essentially you get a rubber gasket from the plumbing section of the hardware store and use that on top of the folder to re-distribute the pressure. Voila a framed image - no brain damage! I've done a rectangle like the one shown on card 3303 and will be getting more gaskets to do other shapes!
I am so excited, this is one thing I thought was missing from the cuttlebug and its not anymore! Thanks Sue! :D

I've read the tutorial a few times, and don't quite follow. :( Does anyone know of a video showing this technique? Her cards are really great!

Try Indigo Inklings. She has a ton of tutorials on the cuttlebug...partial cuttling, frames, etc. She's got a huge collection of cuttlebug/Big Shot info.

if you are going to Indigo Inklings, its this tutorial - which is great cause it has pictures. :)

They are going to love me at the Hardware store when I ask for this product and they ask why...they are probably used to crazy crafty women looking for products for other uses though. ;)

its really up to you to decide which to buy rubber vs. wood. I now have both and think they can perform the same.
The reason I have wood is because I found an oval frame in wood at Michaels that was only 1/8" thick.
I didn't/don't want to try cutting curves into the rubber - some may be able to do it great, but I don't want to risk wasting my rubber sheet.
