chalks

Is there way to use chalks in scrapbooking....and not have the chalks smear or brush off? [without the use of blender pens, or Versa mark]

Please help! Thanks!

using chalk in scrapbooks

You can "set" the chalks with a light coating of aerosol hair spray. It keeps it from smearing.

I think I have heard hairspray is not safe for scrapbooks. Maybe there is a fixative at the craft store archival-safe.

What I have done is take a scrap piece of cardstock and place it on top of the chalked image. I then run the brayer over the top and it removes and excess onto the scrap.

Chalks

Hairspray is not safe for long term sealing. Wal-Mart casrries Patricia Hauser or Krylon Fixatifs which are both acid free. Often, too, hair spray will smear your work.

I just use chalk and have never had a problem.....

Au Natural

Often I just rub the chalk with my finger. For once, the natural oils in your fingers is a good thing, and seals the chalk. :)
