Bubble Background technique??
Hi there,
I saw some cards using the 'Along the Same Lines' stamp set in the gallery that showed a technique which made the background look like bubbles... If you know this technique would you please share with me? I really love the looks of this and think it might use some resist stamping, or dish detergent or something. Thanks much Linda |
Could you link to the cards that you are looking at. It would be easier to tell what technique it is if I can see the card.

Could it be bubble wrap that is inked and used as a background stamp?

There's a technique that I haven't tried where you mix water, dishsoap and some reinker in a bowl or pan, then use a straw to blow bubbles and when you have the top all bubbly, you sort of lay a piece of cardstock on it (enough so that the bubbles "pop" against it, but not enough that it sinks down into the water). Could that be it?

Maybe you mean the one that makes things bubble up? I think it's called Heated Pearls. They had a tutorial on it about a month ago. You take glossy card stock, spread Elmer's glue on top, sprinkle on Pearl Ex powder, use a stipple brush or paint brush to spread the Pearl Ex so it covers all of the glue, and then heat with your heat gun. You know you're done heating when it stops bubbling.

I don't know the technique, but I believe this is the card you're talking about?

As posted by Colleen Kidder in another thread:
To create fun backgrounds (or foregrounds) for your summer projects try using the Glossy paper for the Bubble Background Technique. Place 3-4 Tablespoons of dish washing soap and a cup of tap water in a large bowl. Add 10-15 drops of desired color of Stampin Up! refill ink. Use a wisk to create froth and pour this mixture onto a tray. Using a drinking straw, blow lightly while stirring the mixture so that you form slightly larger bubbles. You do NOT want huge bubbles as you won't be able to fit them on a standard size card front. After bubbles are formed, spritz the top of them with reinker that has been diluted with water and put into a travel-sized pump spray bottle. (This will help make the bubbles more defined.) Then lightly place a sheet of Glossy Cardstock onto the bubbles without actually dropping it into the solution. Remove paper and place right side up on paper towels and allow to dry. To speed the process you can use another paper towel to blot dry but DO NOT rub or you will disturb the bubble pattern. For more versatility select other |
