box for ornaments
Does anyone have a template for a box that is big enough for the glass ornaments? I saw a box in the gallery with a lid and it was beautiful, but there were no instructions for it. Thanks

It would depend on what size your ornament is, but you might try nashvillewraps.com for inexpensive boxes.
I saw once on the Carol Duvall Show where they took a small, plain white box (similar in size to a child's shoe box), and with the box lid only: cut out an oval in the center, stamped around this opening (they used a pine leaf stamp with various green hues; marker method), on the top of the box, then attached a piece of acetate to the box lid underside. In fact, I remember now it was Dee Gruenig doing the demo. Inside the box itself, she placed shredded paper and nestled the ornament on top of the shredded paper. Covered the box with the lid and the acetate opening showed off the ornament nicely. Hope this helps! |
If you find out how to do this I'd love to know myself. I just spend $$$ on red glass ornaments and I'm not sure how I'm going to store them!

Is this the project that you're talking about that Dee demonstrated? http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/crafting/ar...382548,00.html |
I just buy the boxes at the card/party store. The price is about the same as a 12x12 piece of cardstock and is heavier. Much easier than making one!

I love to watch Dee Gruenig demo - stamping is exciting but she makes it even more so! Thank you sacramentostamper, for finding the visual - it was about 2+ years since I had seen it. I made this peek-through window frame into a scrapbook page two Christmas' ago, using the same stamps Dee used but inserted a photo behind a 12x12 page. I can scan if somebody wants to see; they are not SU stamps, as it was before I discovered SU stamps. |
If you are talking about packaging a 3" round glass ball ornament, I just ordered the Large Kraft Gift Box (4" square) on page 221 of the current Idea Book. I think it should hold one fine. They are $2.95 for a pkg of 3 -- not bad.

I also saw some really cute predecorated ones in the dollar store that are nested, and there were two nested boxes for $1. I picked some up. Depending on which size ball you used, they will be perfect for large like 4" ball and a 2 1/2-3"ball.
