The dies look like SU labels framelits dies. They look connected on opposite sides. I will need to think that through since I can't find any and have no idea what it is called.

Thanks Kathy....that's about as far as I got too. I did find some instructions but they were in German (I think). Googled translation but it was so far off track that I couldn't make heads nor tails of it.
It would make for an easier search if I knew what the technique was called.
And here is the translation that I got when I Googled:
Starts with the smallest Framlits frame. Nice concentric positions and with Post-Its fixes. Thus slip away nothing more... The sandwich, as usual, only the uppermost acrylic record begins only in the first Scallop. Thus it cuts only here where the sandwich is complete.
The second Frame now in the small one straighten. The acrylic record now on the other side ' do not cut ' leave.
Always nicely in the change, until the biggest Frame is completely punched out. Then you can do in another color all Frames over again completely
The Frames bestempel I now. If something certain gets on, you should think that the frame is still stuck in the end.
I have moved the creases with the help of the new Simply Scored.
Everything bestempelt....
(who may, with pleasure behind and in front)
I stick the banner and the aerial balloons only behind purely...
The smallest Frame gets on as a title in front.

hr have no crease in the optics. The aerial balloon are wrong around...

Reason: Adding info
It sounds like you start with a piece of cardstock that is larger than the largest die. Center the smallest die in the middle of the cardstock and hold it in place with a post-it or removeable tape. When you put the die between the cutting plates, you put the edge of the cutting plates just inside the die so part of the die hangs out into the air and will NOT cut through. That makes the hinge. Then you repeat with each size larger die except that you alternate which end is NOT cut (for the hinge) until you get all the cutouts you want.

I used labels one from spellbinders since I didn't have the set she used. I'm going to try again with a different die and better DSP. I've learned a long time ago not to start a new project with the good stuff! LOL

I am anxious to try it now and will take the advice given below and use cheap paper for the first few tries. I am spatially challenged as well!
You're welcome. It really is a great looking technique, and I can kind of figure it out by looking at all the pictures. Only trouble - I don't have those particular dies. Maybe another set of nesting dies would work, sort of.
