Default TLC588, Stencil Monoprint 05/30/2016

Hello Stamping Friends.

Welcome to another TLC. It is my first post as an 'official' member of the team. I hope you get a chance to play along.

So, today the challenge is called:

TLC588; Stencil Monoprinting

One of the new trends that I am seeing a lot of these day is to use your stencils to monoprint. I love being able to use the supplies I already have in different ways. It is a very easy technique to use and gives your projects the look of a watercolored background. It is also very easy to stamp over the inked bkg which I really like. You can even try layering your monoprints by using 2 different stencils.

Basically, you ink the back of a stencil with ink, spray with a generous amount of water, then press onto your paper. It is helpful to press a paper towel over the top and rub gently to move the ink around your paper. Applying different amounts of water will give you different looks to your finished inky paper.

My friend Lee Anne did a wonderful tutorial and a video here on SCS.

In the video, Lee Anne uses Distress ink but feel free to try using other water based inks, Distress stains, colour sprays etc. to give you different effects and looks.

* If you don't own any stencils you could make your own by punching or die cutting shapes on one of those little plastic sheets that come with your stamp sets. It is very easy and fun to create your own stencil designs.

I created 2 cards using this technique:

Stencil Monoprinting

Timeless

Remember to add TLC588 to your keyword line when uploading your card so it will show up in the gallery.

TLC588 Gallery can be found here.

I want to play along in your official challenge Karen ... so I will make some time in the morning. I love doing this technique too, if only I could remember what it is called!

Fun Challenge! and another first for me since I don't own any stencil and had to make my own (too early here for the stores to be open . . .) Here's my results using the gridwork left behind from my large dimensionals:

I almost didn't do this -- I did try once with the water and it was hideous ... so I went with the white paint.

Heart TLC588 Roses

Inspired by the wild roses blooming at the harbor- I used a dc rose, applied ink pad directly, sprayed with water, blotted, and used rolling pin to get the image to the paper. Added a rose dp square, and some gems, along with a lace/brad combo. Here's Roses

Great technique, Karen; I haven't done this since I first tried nearly a year ago - must keep it in mind!
