Hey, how fun, the date for today's technique works for both the US and other countries! I love those kinds of coincidences. Today's challenge, faux wood burning is very simple. Shelly (mcschmidty) suggested it to me; I'd done it before at a technique club but never thought to use it for a TLC, so thanks, Shelly! A couple of dirty girls (asweetjewel and cheermom) used the technique for the newest design team theme so check out their samples...really excellent! I would have included a video but I can't get it to link. If you want to watch it, search on YouTube for faux wood burning technique, should be the first one that comes up. Fair warning: it's one of those live ones, it's longish.
1) Choose a heavy, light colored cardstock or watercolor paper.
2) Stamp your image multiple times, using a stamp platform and a dark dye ink, like SU early espresso or the like. If you don't use a stamping platform, you'll need to ink up your image very heavily.
3) Finally simply use a very wet brush to brush across the whole paper. The dye ink will bleed; you can make it streaky or keep working it until you are satisfied. The video suggests using a scoring tool to put in some grooves like it's real wood but I didn't do that
