Mayday, Mayday, S.O.S. (Overlook the fact that it's actually May 2, not May Day ;-). It is our May Day bank holiday here in Ireland today). In the past I have featured a few challenges which I called Stretch Our Stencils. Today we are going to do heat embossing with our stencils - don't worry, you're not going to heat your stencil, just apply Versamark through it instead of coloured inks, and then heat emboss. My idea was to go one step further and use this as embossing resist, but if you like to stop at just embossing, that's dandy.
I found that once I had secured my stencil over the card, I was able to press my Versamark pad down and swipe it across with good results. I'm attaching three samples showing different possibilities.
Sample 1 shows some card sponged with green distress ink, and then embossed and left plain after that, for a tone on tone type effect.
Sample two is the same stencil (jungle leaves from Joanna Sheen) - this time I also sponged the card first so that I had green leaves, but after embossing I sponged again with darker greens and some brown, for a classic emboss resist.
Sample three used Mermaid Waves from Hero Arts - I embossed on plain white card with clear EP and then sponged with a couple of blues. In the end I trimmed it down a good bit, but when I started I wasn't sure what I was going to make with it.
Whatever way you choose to go, I hope you'll have fun using your stencils to create a quick and beautiful embossed background. Once you're done and have finished the card off as it please you, upload it using the keyword TLC893. It's also helpful if you come back and leave a link on this thread, especially in case you made a typo and people may not find your card.
If you're not sure how to link your card on the thread here, here's how:
1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one window for your card and one for this thread. 2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link. 3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on) 4. Click EDIT. Click COPY 5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.
This was such fun, Sabrina. I got totally unexpected results with the Emboss Resist with Stencils. It added texture and another color with the excess embossing powder and Pixie Spray that lingered behind.

here's mine, trying to fit it into other challenges, I embossed through a stampin up stencil and then sponged colors from the Color challenge of daffodil delight, magenta madness, and night of navy.
