Default TLC802 ~ Wipe Those Worries Away ~ {07/06/2020}

Happy Monday to you all. I hope that those celebrating the 4th of July all had a safe and happy day/holiday weekend.

I had several ideas for today. I dismissed the first one on the grounds that it was probably too close to what I know Jean has lined up for us next week. Another one is a favourite technique of mine that I featured in 2016, so that's a good while ago and I'm sure I'll feature it again soon. But I decided to challenge myself a bit and try something that, if I have done, it was so long ago that I don't remember - the Baby Wipe technique, using a folder wipe to create a custom stamp pad with re-inkers. By extension, there is also the Striped Wipe technique, which is also adding drops of re-inker to a folded wipe, but this time adding the drops to the edge, and pulling it across glossy card. I tried this with DOX re-inkers and got a very soft pastel look. I'm too frugal with my glossy card to have tried again with regular re-inkers, and anyway, the soft look was just what I wanted for my bright flowers.
Wouldn't it be great if we could really wipe some of worries and cares away? At least we can get some good creative therapy from those baby wipes.

Baby Wipe

Striped Wipe

Yes, there are plenty of other ways of using baby wipes, but I'd like you to try one or the other of the above two for this challenge.

I used regular re-inkers and stamped my leaves and flowers (and then die-cut them, so you can't really tell that they're stamped). As mentioned before, I used DOX inks on the background to try the Striped Wipe, and they didn't really work.
Beate has a couple of other suggestions if you read on down to the variations at the bottom of the Striped Wipe tutorial. If I can find some inferior glossy card I'd quite like to try her tie-dye suggestion!

Here's a link to our TLC802 Wipe Those Worries Away gallery

Whichever technique you use, it's great if you upload to the relevant Technique Spotlight gallery - choose Technique Spotlight from the first dropdown menu and the technique from the second menu.

My card will be linked in the next post.

Remember to use the keyword TLC802 when you are uploading. It's helpful if you come back and leave a link on this thread, especially in case you made a typo and people may not find your card.

If you're not sure how to link your card on the thread here, here's how:

1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one window for your card and one for this thread.
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.

Thank you for this fun challenge, I don't got any reinkers but used Izink spray inks, it works for the striped technique but impossible to get a print with the stamping on the baby wipe, maybe I should try another baby wipe I've got only cheap ones
I wanted to add a picture from the decorated envelope but can't find it in my files...

I used the baby wipe technique....and while I had the colors, I stamped a bunch of these. Thanks for a fun challenge.

Thanks, Sabrina. I've done this swipe technique with other mediums like alcohol inks onto felt, and also compressed sponges with dye inks, but never with baby wipes. This was great for a short session. The compressed sponges absorb more ink so it's good for making lots of BG. Good results with all methods. Gallery at Splitcoaststampers by Lori "Artzadoni"

Default Hello

I made a background of the technique, and then stamped and embossed onto it. I combined the challenge with the Crafters of Faith challenge for July

Hope

Thanks for looking
