TLC529 ~ Negative Glitter ~ {4/13/15}
Hi friends! It's my turn to host the Technique Challenge this week. Since we have a five member team, it is sometimes hard to find challenges that haven't been chosen by another team member. A couple of months ago, I chose one that Jenn had already posted (that I obviously missed the first time around!), but I am hoping that some of you found it to be a new technique anyway! Today's technique could be one that has also been done before as we title things differently and don't always play each week. In any case, I hope you have fun with it. As always, you are welcome to substitute supplies for those things you have that work just as well.
Today's technique is called "Negative Glitter." We are making a beautiful glitter background and then using the negative die side to highlight that glitter. In my sample, I used a script word and glitter strips made with Scor-Tape. This idea came from the talented Chari Moss.
Let's have several colors of glitter in your designs, rather than just one solid color.
Instructions for following my sample:
1. Choose your glitter colors. I chose four different pastels, but you could use different shades of the same color, or bolder contrasts. Adhere strips of Scor-Tape (or another brand) where you want the glitter. Press down tightly using your fingers or a bone folder. Remove the backing of one strip at a time, adding one color at a time. Press the glitter into the strip of adhesive, making sure it is covered. Continue until all strips are covered with glitter.
2. Cut your panel for the negative die slightly smaller than the card base. Position your die to show off the most color. Cut and adhere the panel using pop up squares (Dimensionals or another brand).
3. Embellish the rest of the card as you wish.
I kept mine CAS and added sequins using Glue Dots.
There are many ideas using this multi-glitter technique. Your die doesn't have to be a word - it could be some beautiful shape as well. The glitter doesn't have to be in strips either. Feel free to incorporate stamping on your panels too! I know the gallery will be shimmering with glitter goodness! I am excited to see what you come up with.

Negative Glitter is such a negative name for this technique. I already feel like I'm in dangerous territory when you say the word glitter. LOL! I think it should be called glitter stripes. Here's my Personalized Glitter ATC

About the best I can say for my card and this technique today is that I tried it! I get points for that, right? : )
Glitter is not my friend, although this technique is not nearly as messy as some others I've tried, so thanks for that, Judy!
And I am definitely enjoying the beautiful work in today's gallery by people who are good with glitter : )

Judy....I don't think you have to apologize!!! I'm so grateful for the challenges that you ladies bring us!! First of all.....there has to be a finite number of challenges. Second of all....even if there were an infinite number.....I sure as hell don't mind if they repeat and third of all.....of course it will be new to lots of people no matter how many times they're repeated. That is my soap box oration for today.....lol....thank you SO MUCH for the challenges!!
Here's my card.

TLC529 Starry Present
Great challenge, Judy! I am "all thumbs" with glitter, but I had some glitter tape I glued down under my reverse cut star border. Image came from my SCS friend Lisa- thanks! Photographed my mouse against an aluminum foil background. Here's Starry Present. TFL!

Fun technique, Judy! Had lots of troubles (not w/ the tech) that almost made want to hit my head until I passed out. Anyway, here's my Silver Glitter Lining. Thanks so much for looking!

I used this technique along with a Cricut cut out for the front of a gift bag. Great technique!

Super fun challenge I had to do it just a bit different with adding colored paper and putting glitter on the paper as I do not have double sided tape. I hope this is an ok way to do it. Here is my card: Birthday Elephant by Shoe Girl - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers
