Default TLC476 ~ Embedded Diecut ~ (4/7/14)

Hello everyone!!! Hope you had a wonderful weekend!!!! We had a great spring rain today....hope it helps the May flowers!!!!! I have lots of weeding to do and plants to plant so I hope it drys out tomorrow.

It's my turn to host this weeks TLC challenge and I have a real fun and easy one for ya!!

I have been seeing a lot of this technique in blogland and on Pinterest so I had to give it a try!!! I think it makes a project look more finished than just adhering the diecut to the top of the background. I have named it * Embedded Diecut *. Here are the deets:

1. Use a die to cut out a piece of card stock....the negative piece will be your background so pick the color and size you want for this layer.
2. Use the same die to cut out an image in patterned paper or different colored cardstock
3. Add the patterned paper diecut pieces to the negative of the cardstock and glue in place.
4. This is pretty easy, especially if you use a simple die!! If you use a more intricate die, you will be gluing the tiny pieces down for a while....embellish as desired.

My sample:

Embedded Flower

Remember when uploading to use keyword TLC476 (no spaces)

You can view the entire TLC 476 Gallery here !!

I can't wait to see what you come up with!!!!

This was fun, and a challenge! For sure! I may have picked the wrong die, but there's what I did:

Default Embedded CAS

This is a favorite technique of mine. I love the precision of dies (I'm kind of a neat freak - everything crisp and clean) and this is just another wonderful way to use them. In fact, I embedded 3 die cuts this week in a card for Kathleen Lammie ( Missing Kathleen ). For today's challenge, I combined the CAS challenge with the embedded flower for this card EMBEDDED CAS

TLC476 Courage!
Here's mine, Joan.
Fun - and I learned my lesson last time I tried it about using intricate dies and losing little bits and having to cut more, LOL - so I went super-simple today. Maybe I'll aim somewhere in between next time ;).

Smile TLC476 Small Faith

Joan- awesome challenge, what a great use of our reverse cut images! I used MB's Nutty Acorn die and Spellbinder's Foliage die set- and added this nice quote from my stamping buddies. Finished with a striped border. Here's Small Faith

Smile TLC476 Leafy Thanks

I was inspired by the lovely cards in the gallery to make another card with brighter colors- I used a leafy frond die shape and added my sentiment, which was cut using SU-Sizzix's Chalk Talk dies for my panel and slot- where I tied my double ribbons. Here's TLC476 Leafy Thanks

Thanks, Joan. You forced me. This was not as hard as it sounded. I WAS tempted to curl the petals up instead of tucking them down though. Here's my card.

Yes, finally I managed to do the challenge before the next one is available! Here is my "circles of love".

In fact I was so on time that the challenge hadn't even been posted! Or rather I happened to have made a card last weekend that uses the exact same technique. How is that for a coincidence? This is my "cheat" entry
