TLC345 ~ Pencil Me In ~ (10/03/11)
Hi Stampers!
It’s been a record breaking stamping weekend, hasn’t it? With World Card Making Day and the Hope You Can Cling To Challenges, the gallery has filled up with so much eye candy! I am hoping with today’s challenge, you’ll be adding more!
~ Pencil Me In ~
We all have our favorite coloring medium and some just plain do not like to color at all. Today’s challenge is pretty simple. I challenge you to use pencil in your creation (not colored pencils, but a good old no.2!). Of course you can use colored pencils, too, but make sure you use that no. 2, as well. This idea came to me a week or so ago when I saw this amazing card by lorettal (Loretta).
Here’s my sample:
~ Pencil Me In ~
When uploading, please remember to use keyword TLC345 (no spaces)
You can view the entire TLC345 gallery HERE.
Now go get your pencil on!

Great challenge and totally new technique for me, but it looks hard. I'll give it a try tomorrow and see what happens.

, you obviously rate your pencils differently on your side of the Atlantic, as well as your paper sizes - I'm not sure what a number 2 pencil equates to over here, but I'll plan to get my pencil box out after work and the housework.

Love the look of this, Holly. Quick question though, do we need to seal this with something? I'm thinking the pencil lead would smudge...

Oh, wow! I'm totally intimidated by everyone's cards! I'm not much of a "colorer" but I'm definitely going to give this a try! Great challenge, Holly~

This WAS a challenge, Holly. I don't even have many #2s around the house! I decided to go with a "grisaille" look. Thanks for another interesting challenge.
BEWARE!

So sorry Sabrina. I had not thought that regular pencils would be called something else outside the US. Can you tell us what you call a pencil that is standard (like what kids use in school)?

Yes. There are two schools of thought on this. My son does pencil drawings and "fixes" them with hairnet hair spray. He holds his paper at least 12" from the spray. Depending on the paper, it can cause a slight yellowing, though. Prismacolor does have a brand name fixative, but I will do some further exploration to see if I can find a cheap and effective method.

In Canada we call them HB pencils - not sure if it's the same in the UK.
