This week's challenge is Fun Foam Stamping. Fun Foam can be found in any craft store. It comes in many colors and usually is used in kids' crafts.
Here is how to do it:
Cut off a piece of foam a little bit larger than your chosen stamp. Bold stamps without a lot of line detail work best for this technique. Using your heat gun, heat the foam until it curls a little bit...flip it over and heat the other side too. Quickly press your (uninked) stamp into the hot foam. Press hard and keep it there for about 10-15 seconds. Lift off the stamp, and you will have a lovely impression of the stamp! Trim around the image, and use on your card.
Here's the best part about working with fun foam, I think. Don't like what you did? Just heat the foam back up and your stamped image just disappears and you can try again!
I would like to thank my dear friend Carla for showing me how to do this last summer! Thanks, Carla!
I know you all will come up with some fabulous designs using Fun Foam. Have fun!
I try to comment on each card made for a TLC, but lately have not been able to keep up due to moving/unpacking/getting settled, taking care of the kids since school got out and taking care of my mom. In the last 4 weeks, I haven't been able to even view all the cards, let alone leave comments. I feel bad about that that, and hope that my life will settle down here very soon, so I can get back to stamping and SCS!
Aren't you the sweetest THANG! Since we played last summer my fun foam has stayed in a drawer and I haven't done a thing with it. I say its time to pull it out and create. Hhhhmmmmmm! I"ll try and post something tomorrow! It's back to the DMV for me today! I can't wait to see what you other stampers do - I'm always inspired even though I'm pretty much a lurker!
Carla, do you still have that card with the Fun Foam using Buds and Blossoms? You should post that too along with your new creation. Try to smile your sweetest at the DMV! ;)
Wow! I think I have a piece of fun foam that I stamped like 5 years ago and never made into a card. Maybe I can start with that. Otherwise it's a trip to Michael's. Fun technique - thanks Beth!
And Beth - don't worry about not getting to all the cards. We totally understand. We apprceiate you taking the time to get the challenge up each week. Heck, I didn't get the LSC up until 11pm Friday night.
Shameless plug - We can add fun foam to the supply list if you want to combine this challenge with the LSC!!!
This sounds fun! I just read about this technique in this month's Rubber Stamper while my daughter was at gymnastics this morning. Now, all I have to do is find my foam!!!

What a GREAT idea!!! I can't wait to try it...I think I only have premade shapes, (for dd) but maybe I can go p/u some full sheets...thanks for the challenge!!!
I just happened to have some fun foam left over from a play day with my granddaughters. This is what I came up with - the first card I've ever made that didn't use ink to stamp with!
Beth - I don't have the Buds & Blossom sample anymore. When I finally get around to selling my retired set, I put any card samples I have that are made with that set in the box with it. This was a quick one! Hopefully I'll get more time to play after dinner!
This is my first attempt at a technique challenge...I love the FUN foam. I think that everything will have foam on it now! Thanks for the challenge..I will be making more of these definitely! Here is my card:

Here's my first one. I want to try this again, but it will have to wait until later tonight. Not all that thrilled with this card, but I like the idea of it!
O.K. I'm totally losing it! Bud & Blossoms isn't retired but I had put that sample in the Tropical Blossoms box when I sold it. DUH! I had used the leaves from Tropical Blossoms on the card.
This technique looks so fun! I'm fairly new to SCS, so I just discovered the technique challenges... but I'm anxious to get started! I would love to do this one, but I'm on a stamping hiatus until July... Too busy with work. But I'll be back then, and until then I'll keep checking out all your awesome work!
This is a cool technique. I can't wait to try it .. .I'm considering sneaking into my 3 year old's room right now as she sleeps to steal some fun foam, but I know I'll get busted. Sometimes that stuff is kinda smelly . .. I'm wondering if it gives off an odor when it's heated? Maybe it's just the cheap stuff from the dollar store that I buy
I got mine done finally. Boy there aren't a lot of color choices to pick from at HL and they were all huge sheets. I wasn't sure if I needed the thicker or thinner, so I got the thinner and it seemed to work just fine. Would love some other colors though.
Oh and I think I accidentally put TLC16 in my description.
I attempted a card last night and the card just didn't make the cut. I love the technique and the foam looks great I just need to do some tweeking and I should be able to post something here later this week.
I had a riot trying this out! Two of these also have the Valerie's definition sheet included. Thanks for posting these challenges- I had the supplies, but would not have tried it if not challenged!
Oh, I threw away a WHOLE BOX of craft foam 3 or 4 months ago!! I'm so mad!
I thought I would never use it. That's it! I'm not throwing anything away ever again! Now I have to go buy some!
I'm glad that fun foam is forgiving!! I made so many and then redid them because I didn't like them. All of my SU stamps seem to be very detailed so I couldn't find any I wanted to use :( However, I did find some stamps.
I'm trying to catch up on my challenges
These cards fit TLC13 for being only one color and also SC18 and SC19 in addition to using fun foam!
Here's one that also fits the sketch challenge and color challenge for this week. It really looks better in person. Between the Barely Banana cardstock, Gable Green ink, and puffy fun foam, it didn't scan too well.
Okay, here is another card using the fun foam! I just can't get enough of this cute stuff! It is also a great way for me to use up my background paper in a quick and easy fashion! Hope you guys are having as much fun as I am with this technique!
okay ladies. At the risk of looking dumb! What is fun foam? Is it the same stuff that foam stickers are made of or is a pliable foam? I am sooooo confused. Thanks
Fun foam is the the stuff that foam stickers are made of and it is pliable. It comes in sheets, usually 8x10 or 11x17 for under $1. It is usually found in the kids crafts section at Michaels or Walmart and even Target (sometimes)
It sort of looks like the plastic meat trays at the supermarket in texture, but it is very flexible. It also is sold in precut shapes, in kits, and all kinds of ways. If you go to Walmart, or Michaels and ask for it, they will know what you are talkin' about!
I just love this technique and had so much fun with it. My girls absolutely can't get enough of it now. So glad I saw the challenge and all the great inspiring cards from all of you.
