MMTPT643 -November 17, 2020-Good Books
Teapot Tuesday Challenge MMTPT643 Good Books
Anyone is welcome to play in the weekly Teapot Challenge - the more, the merrier! You automatically become a “TEApotter” the first time you play. Where will you find inspiration? Will it be from the teapot? The destination location? Something of the recipient? Or could it be from the challenge itself? Remember, sending your card to the listed guest of honor is 100% voluntary - it's not a requirement but will be very well appreciated. Just have fun! This week's challenge hostess is: peeps321/Polly
CHALLENGE:
I think many of us can relate to our recipient Bill. We love our books. Since Bill is a big reader, make a card reflecting a favorite book of yours. It can be a character from the book, the theme or message , a book’s cover, or make a card with a general books theme.
CARD TYPE/THEME: Thinking of You, Hello, Encouragement, Prayers, Spiritual/Religious cards are welcome. Get well soon cards are not appropriate. Our teaparty this week comes at the request of Fran, SCS philsmom. Fran tells us that her friend’s husband, Bill, had a stroke in June. He had surgery and then went into rehab unable to walk and reliant on a trach and feeding tube. Soon, Bill will be making the transition home, if he hasn’t already done so by now. To complicate matters, Bill’s brother is terminally ill and sadly, between Covid and his current condition, Bill cannot travel to see his brother. Bill’s been through so much in a short period of time and well wishes would surely help uplift him during his convalescence. Bill loves books, especially “the Good Book”.
***UPDATE: Bill is currently in the hospital, still reliant on a trach and also has a leg infection. He will be going to rehab but not be going home. Due to the seriousness of his situation please keep this in mind when you make your cards and use appropriate sentiments.****

Do you know someone that could use some well wishes, encouragement or all around warm fuzzies? Consider nominating them as a guest of honor (a.k.a. destination station) for an upcoming tea party. Send your request to jacqueline via PM or e-mail [email protected]. Include SCS Teaparty Request in the subject line.

Thank you, Polly for your Good Book challenge for Bill. I felt a kindred spirit here.
I have given Bill a library to be comfortable in.

Here's mine -after having to go back to the drawing board on the cover, and having cut the inside three times because I haven't made one in ages. OK, the first one was correct but it was square and I decided to go A2.

I don't know Jean.... I would image his wife can show him the cards, etc but as far as reading a book I'm thinking probably not.

I think so. He sees his family when the nurse helps him with an ipad. I have sent him cards to cheer him and he does read and display them so when Phyllis his wife comes he shows them to her. I am very grateful for this teaparty. I had surgery Friday and have not been able to get inky.

Polly, so sorry to hear about the brothers. I thought I would create a
shaped book and cut to size for the card. I also used Publisher to make
the letters on the bible, and added a red ribbon.

I think there are a lot of people now who don't have or even know what a phone book is. At least not the paper kind. Thanks, Polly. This was so fun to make for Bill.

[QUOTE=ArtzadoniStudio;22022091] I think there are a lot of people now who don't have or even know what a phone book is. At least not the paper kind. Thanks, Polly. This was so fun to make for Bill.
This gave me a chuckle... I think it was last year that on the daily local news this was mentioned.. and my grandkids asked about it. I have an older phone book with both residential and business numbers, and they were shocked to see my number in that book, I think from about 1995. Now, if you are a customer of Verizon (I'm not, I have a Tracfone) you can request a free book, but it is very thin and only has business numbers. If not a customer, you have to pay for the book. I did request a residential book, and used my daughters account to get it... also, only a few pages in thickness. I remember getting so excited when the new phone book would arrive, and would sit for hours reading the names... just a fun thing to do even as an adult... to see how many names I'd recognize. Miss those phone books... love the card, thanks for the memory !
I will be sending a card today, just not sure what theme yet.

I had to use a card from my stash. The tendon surgery makes it impossible for me to get inky. Thank you all for helping to cheer up Bill. I am very grateful to each of you for sharing your time and talent.

This card was made for my "Challenge Catch-up" cardmaking goal, new and old, and.it is for my Christmas Card Stash for 2022!
The tea party recipient for this challenge was a man who loved to read. Challenge: to make a card about a book...its theme, message, etc. I'm late to the party, so mine is a Christmas card about a Christmas tree and "peace."
I chose a book by Jennifer Johnson, The Christmas Tree! My card depicts a beautiful Christmas tree, though the character in the book only wanted a small tree to see as she approaches death.
Here is my card: Mitering with a Twisted Oval Christmas!
