MMTPT631 ~ August 25, 2020 - Hats On for the Derby
Teapot Tuesday Challenge MMTPT631
HATS ON FOR THE DERBY
Anyone is welcome to play in the weekly Teapot Challenge - the more, the merrier! You automatically become a “TEApotter” the first time you play. Where will you find inspiration? Will it be from the teapot or from the challenge theme itself? Remember, your participation in Destination Station is 100% voluntary and not a requirement. Just have fun! It's the last Tuesday of the month so that means it's time for our Teapot Tuesday Tickle Challenge
This week's challenge is brought to you by guest hostess stampingwriter/Sandy ( sorry ,I can't add her avatar as there's an issue with adding images right now)
Grab your hat, we’re off to the races
The Kentucky Derby horse race has been run every year since 1875, not even pausing for world-shattering events like World War I or II. This year, the race wasn’t run on the traditional first Saturday in May, because of the pandemic, but the Derby is on for the first Saturday in September. And if you’re going to the Kentucky Derby, you need a hat. A big fancy hat. (Think of the kind of hats you see at royal weddings, or in My Fair Lady). Apparently this tradition goes all the way back to 1875, when the first Derby was promoted as a “high-class” event. In celebration of this 145-year tradition, today’s Teapot Challenge is to put a fancy hat on your card. (If you prefer horses to hats, that’s good too. We can’t have a race without horses.)
<span ><b="" style="font-size: 10pt;">
<span ><b="" style="font-size: 10pt;">EPEC(extra points for extra cookies): Another beloved tradition with the Derby is the official beverage, the mint julep. For extra cookies, put some green on your card to signify mint.
SEND CARDS TO: this week our destination is each other! Once a month, we send our cards to each other! Check out THIS NEW THREAD in the TEApot Tuesday Extras Forum. If you are participating in the card exchange please go to this thread and follow the instructions. Make sure to sign up by bedtime on Saturday 29th August 2020. Your destination recipient will be PM'd to you.

Wow! The Kentucky Derby! I'm from Louisville originally and have lived very close to the Downs. Almost every thing stops and every one celebrates the Derby. And of course, the majestic, powerful stars of the show, the horses. There may not be the mega crowds there but there will be HATS! Even at some churches the next day women and girls will wear derby quality hats.
Sandy / Sabrina a great challenge for the tickle!!
Allison great sketch today!!

I'm playing challenge catch-up cardmaking, and I may be really stretching my hat...not so traditional for the Kentucky Derby, but super traditional for a baseball game! My card boasts lots of green for mint juleps...a nice replacement for beer at a baseball game, though it could be green beer!
