Teapot Tuesday Challenge MMTPT666
The Ocean, Favourite Authors, and Friends
Anyone is welcome to play in the weekly Teapot Challenge - the more, the merrier! You automatically become a “TEApotter” the first time you play. Where will you find inspiration? Will it be from the teapot or from the challenge theme itself? Remember, your participation in Destination Station is 100% voluntary and not a requirement. Just have fun!
It's the last Tuesday of the month so that means it's time for our Teapot Tuesday Tickle Challenge.
This week's challenge is brought to you by guest hostess: One4Joy, Susan.
Susan was inspired by the Sylvia Beach Hotel in Oregon, what a fascinating looking place.
CHALLENGE:
Sylvia Beach Hotel was named in honor of Sylvia Beach, the expatriate American bookseller and publisher who opened Shakespeare and Company bookstore in Paris in 1919. Located in Newport on the central Oregon coast, Sylvia Beach Hotel sits on a bluff above Nye Beach and the Pacific Ocean.
Originally built in 1912 as the New Cliff House hotel, the structure was renovated in the 1980s to become a 21-room literary-themed bed and breakfast with a homey and eclectic charm that attracts readers, writers, and travelers from all over the world. It has been listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Each room includes details and books to reflect the life and writings of 21 different authors.
Check out their website here for further information and inspiration. There are video tours of some of the rooms.
The list of authors includes:
Mark Twain, Agatha Christie and Colette as the "classics" with ocean views
Ken Kesey, John Steinbeck, Virginia Woolf, Lincoln Steffens, J.K.Rowling, Jane Austen, Herman Melville, Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Emily Dickinson, Dr. Seuss, Amy Tan and Alice Walker as the "best-sellers" with northern views towards the Yaquina Head Lighthouse
J.R.R. Tolkien, Oscar Wilde, Gertrude Stein, Jules Verne as the "novels"
The challenge: please check out the authors list/rooms from the Sylvia Hotel and create a card based on your favorite author in the hotel. (Photos of some of the rooms are attached below, check out the website for your chosen author (list of and links to each room on the right of the page linked here) because I can't add that many attachments - Sabrina's note.)
An alternative would be an ocean theme. Be sure to let us know your favorite things .
SEND CARDS TO: This week our destination is each other! Once a month, we send our cards to each other!
Check out THIS NEW THREAD in the Teapot Tuesday Extras Forum. (In case links break again, it's in Teapot Tuesday Extras, the only one with a green arrow beside it.) That Inn is a book lover's dream! And so is this challenge....I had a hard time deciding on my author as I love them all but I went with John Steinbeck. Thanks Susan!
I want you to know that this challenge halted my Watercolor practice for today! After linking the challenge I was intrigued by the hotel. What a cool hotel and wonderful challenge.
Susan and Sabrina, thank you for the most awesome challenge.. it is so interesting to learn something new. I would love to visit the hotel. I chose Agatha Christie. Here is my card; Heavenly Window by redi2stamp - at Splitcoaststampers

Tuesday is my hardest day at work made worse today by having to go straight to as DR appt. It is now almost 6 pm so my pic was HARD to get but will do for now! This challenge was a blast - Thank you Susan!!!
I think they will show up in the gallery in the reverse order to what I want. Please look at the outside one before you look at the inside. Also, both links list the title as "books-outside" and I don't know how to remedy this.
I'd love to go there too. Ocean views, oh my. I've barely seen the sea this last year.
I can tell that the uploads for this are going to take a little time to read and enjoy, so I'll catch up when I can. The early part of the week is too busy with work these days...speaking of which, I'd better hit submit and go and sign into Zoom, working at home this morning.
What a great challenge!!! I chose the Agatha Christie room because I’ve read and loved many of her books, especially AndThen There Were None. But, I was captivated by the wall of windows with the ocean view and cozy setting, and decided to go with a replication of the room rather than the book.
Susan, what a fun challenge and interesting hotel. I enjoyed looking at many of the rooms. My first inclination was to do a JK Rowling/Harry Potter card, but I decided to mix things up, and came up with this Mark Twain-themed card.
This is definitely a gallery I want to spend some time in, so I'll be back later to comment.

No remedy possible, it's a new site issue. Hopefully it will be fixed soon, it's very confusing!

Hmmmm - when I go to edit photo, the 3rd line down says "Edit title for the Photo" and I can do that on my gallery . . . so Vicky could at least change the title on her inside card. Or does everybody not have the same options?? I know that is happening with site issues . . . .

Vicki - This may or may not work for you to Edit the title on your second pic. Go to EDIT PHOTO, the 3rd line down Says EDIT TITLE FOR THE PHOTO - with luck you can type in Book -Inside
Don't forget to go down to the bottom of the form and click the Submit Changes button.

Linda the problem is the linking, I've had the same problem with my water color cards, both where named by the same link but they bring you to 2 different cards

Anita is right, it's not the card titles that are the problem, it's linking here in the forum. If you have more than one link, the same text shows for them both - or all. Poor CAS Favourites, the threads are a total mess and the team are very good to persevere through it all. I wouldn't.
I love the inspiration hotel- would love to go there! I would love to stay in so many of the rooms, but for reading, picked Mark Twain for the neutral walls and the extras in the room : )
