Carla (Covington Crafter) is our guest hostess for the Tickle challenge this month. Here's her wonderful challenge. In the front of one of my many recipe collections I have an image of the Queen of Hearts baking away .

Hello Teapotters, it's February and hearts are still on my mind. And hearts make me think of the old nursery rhyme, The Queen of Hearts. And the Queen of Hearts is a feature character in one of my favorite books!

The Queen of Hearts
She made some tarts,
All on a summer's day;
The Knave of Hearts
He stole those tarts,
And took them clean away.
The King of Hearts
Called for the tarts,
And beat the knave full sore;
The Knave of Hearts
Brought back the tarts,
And vowed he'd steal no more.
Here's a little bit of history about the poem.
"The Queen of Hearts" is an English poem and nursery rhyme based on the characters found on playing cards, by an anonymous author...
�The Queen of Hearts" is quoted in and forms the basis for the plot of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Chapter XI: "Who Stole the Tarts?" a chapter that lampoons the British legal system through means of the trial of the Knave of Hearts, where the rhyme is presented as evidence. The poem became more popular after its inclusion in Carroll's work. Source: Wikipedia

This week our destination is each other! Once a month, we send our cards to each other! A little payback and reward to the teapotters for always sending their cards to the recipient of the Destination Station.

Thanks for a great challenge, Carla! It made me stretch my imagination, which is a good thing. I finished my card too late to take a photo last night but I'll be along with it after work and a trip to the library.

If it weren't for copyright issues, I would have LOVED to use Snoopy as the Cheshire Cat ;-). But I've never seen it in licenced (or other) stamp form).

We used to have a wonderful nursery mobile my dad made. It also featured a couple of Dr Seuss characters and Madeleine, but mostly characters from Winnie the Pooh and Alice. I remember the caterpillar's hookah pipe was made from starched red cord. No Alice, but there was one of the playing cards.

I titled At last because that is part of sentiment. But it also could be called that because I had problems getting the photo off the memory card onto my laptop. Finally restarted it. Then of course had problems loading my card to SCS. Finally read that someone put it on their Blog first and uploaded from their blog! It worked.
