We Can't Get Our Bearings (though we smell pickled herring)
Note: Anyone is welcome to play! You automatically become a Teapotter the first time you play in our challenge. Also, you do not have to write a story. This is my story!
1. Valerie and Vivian are twins and avid hikers. Give them a good pair of boots and a trail map and they will tackles just about any terrain you can throw at them. Steep mountain switchbacks or wide grassy plains, they are up for just about any adventure out there.
2. Planning and preparation are the keys to their successful jaunts. Vivian does extensive research on the climate and weather patterns for the area and Valerie pours over detailed topographical maps to best lay out a safe course. They pool their precious pack space to cover any eventuality yet avoid duplication of resources. They fastidiously create packing lists, dividing the gear up so that each has an even part of the load. When they stick together they can accomplish so much more than on their own!
3. After years of dreaming, they finally were able to embark on a bucket-list hike along the fjord coast of Norway to celebrate a milestone birthday. Their anticipation was not ill-spent. Grueling climbs were rewarded by breathtaking vistas. Narrow winding dirt paths perched high above verdant valleys. An ancient glacier yielded to a sandy beach...Viv and Val were in hiker hog heaven!
4. On their last day, the weather took a sudden turn for the colder. The moist sea air clashed with the chill and set up a fog as thick as pea soup. Vivian and Valerie could barely see their own boots, let alone those of their hiking partner. Trapped high above the raging waves, the winds swirled around them. The only way that they could make their way along the path was to inch along using the steep rocks as their guide. "We can't get our bearings (though we smell pickled herring), we can't really see you, so feeling we must do!
5. Well Teapotters, we can't let this adventure of a lifetime end in tragedy...we need to provide some tactile clues for Vivian and Valerie to wind their way back to safety!
Here is a little bit of musical inspiration for a happy ending to our story:

Louise is going to celebrate her 103rd Birthday!!! The card called for lots of texture. So with the embossing powders. the EF; and the ribbons and gems -- I hope this will make her happy!!

Vic and Val could hear the rowdy Puffins enjoying a birthday party and soon felt the red carpet used to line the party route. They were eating cupcakes just in time. Here is the Puffin party scene. Happy birthday Louise! Card also fits this week's technique and color challenges.
Here is my card for our birthday lady who is going to be celebrating 103 years, I can't imagine what that would be like. It certainly is very special. TFL
I will be sending a card from my stash this week - one that has been previously uploaded, so will not add it at this time. I will be making one for 103 later this year - for the sister of a friend. There are some amazing folks!

I made a second textured card for my friend who is legally blind. I make her a textured birthday card every April. I'm glad to have a head start this year. A scripture will go inside for both birthday girls.
Dear Teapotters you deserve far better than you got from me this week. I have become entirely over committed with my volunteer work with America's Grow-a-Row and Salvation Army Youth Programs...these added to a late flu season in the ICU, the usual mom of teens stuff and the Teaparty was the straw that broke the camel's back.
Honestly, I have no idea how Sheri does what she does every week. I don't have a clue how da Mudder did it all by herself. I continue to honor my commitment to the Teaparty because I love it and do not want to dump more onto Sheri. If anyone could step up to help her with a story or comments I'm sure she would be most grateful.
I want you all to know just how much I treasure you and the kindness that you spread and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for that. I finally posted the card that I made and will finally get around to commenting on yours now. Big hugs from a spring-like NJ.

Haha Nancy, I made it. For those who don't know, everyone who makes it to the tea party before Nancy or me is early. That makes Nancy on time an me late. I can't wait until the remodeling, construction and Doctor apportions are at least leveled out in my life. If that will ever happen.
Well reaching over this and getting that, isn't the card I would like to have made especially being this late, but it is what it is.
