Oh my son is a cookie monster! Lol. He also used to go in the garden and eat anything he could find! At the townhouse, he was heading out of the house with a green pepper in his hand. Yup just munching away. I am very happy that he grew into a man who will eat pretty much anything. Hope this makes sense. I just woke up.

I am so weird! So grumpy brought me to my doc, I am out of it again. So three months of being out of it and 3 days of being able enough to do things independently is not right. I have been checked every where but my gut. So I am getting scoped both ends! Yuck. I just realized what that is gonna mean. Yuck
Big huge hugs

For sure, the prep is much worse than the actual scope. Hang in there Lynn. I hope they can resolve some of your issues.

Oh, Ina your garden sounds lovely! And Jan, you are right! It seems so quick that it is already time for Gracie to go back to Wi!
Lynn, I hope you can get some help! But, no fun to go through those tests! Since I am so old, I don’t think I have to do them again. It was every 5 years, then last time they said 10, and by then I will be in my 80s! LOL

It's a long weekend here and the 9fficial start to gardening season. Grumpy is off to grandma brother hunting cabin. I am so glad that this is finally happening. No grumpy is not a hunter but he is an outdoorsman. They are very much alike and now that grandma can no longer interfere things seem to be going well. I am very happy. The ex walked out when grumpy was 8 but I was still sending newsletters and pictures to all the relatives which allowed grumpy to forge his own relationship with them. Remember that there is no one left on my side of the family so I tried very hard for my son to have a sense of family. I need to wake up

Pretty feet Lynn.
I got the extreme weather alert when I was one block away from my daughter's place in Keswick. Drove into their parking lot, and stayed in the car until the slashing, pounding rain let up a bit. My DD called and asked if it was me in the parking lot. The rain was coming down so hard, they could see the car lights, but could not identify my car. My granddaughter was in the basement of the theatre (no windows) when the alarm came on the phone. Imagine 12 cell phone alarming at once. It really freaked out those 7 and 8 year old girls. They were getting dressed in their costumes for the dance recital. It was an excellent show. Regan's group performed 4 times. The older girls from that studio gave performances (group and individual) that were almost professional quality. The whole show lasted 2.5 hours. I was sitting beside my 7 year old grandson, and about 15 minutes in, I asked him how he was doing, and he said, 'I am so bored'. I could well understand that the two brothers were not enthused, but to their credit, they sat quietly for half the program, after which their dad took them out to listen to the ball game in the car.

We were nice trapped under a shelter on the seafront because of torrential rain, the thing was it was running along like a river so our shoes were soaking although our top half stayed dry .
sharon Steve didn’t get a colon test this time as we get them together every two years maybe now he’s 71 it’s a longer time scale between tests.
nice toes Lynn, that’s good that Grumpy has contact with his other side of the family.
I’ve just had await, the temp is 27c,cold when you first get in but refreshing.

Spring storms are popping up all over. Our trip to Wisconsin is postponed. The route we were going to take had lots of weather warnings...snow and ice warnings in Colorado. Oh well, we changed our hotel reservation to 9 days later than planned. Then, we went to the Rodeo last night. Those cowboys and cowgirls are amazing! They must be adrenaline junkies. I can't believe how fast those horses can run. The bucking horses and steers are crazy!
I'm happy to wait a bit longer in Arizona, it's nice to be retired and flexible. Let Mother Nature call the shots!
I'm glad you survived the weather warnings intact and are safe. Ina, that's great that the boy's dad took them out to the car to listen to baseball. At least, they sat through half of the recital.
Cute toes Lynn!
Jan, I'm glad you weren't out in the pouring rain, but I do hate it when my feet are wet and cold.
Have a great day all!

OK. So a storm blew through here. Grumpy went up to the hunting cabin and the storm went through there. Everyone is OK. The tops of the trees were ripped off and thrown all over the place. They have been clearing about 100 feet a day. If things don't change then it may be Wednesday before they can drive out of there. Grumpy is glad he brought an extra socks and underwear! So yup Grumpy is a lumberjack right now and Everyone is OK.
Big huge hugs

Grumpy is so tired. 2 men with chainsaws only cutting through about 100 feet a day. They get up and cut for about 4 hours. Eat and take a nap then go back at it. Today they finally made it to the bush road. So a road through the bush that needs something like a jeep to get through. The road is just as bad. It may be Thursday before they can drive out. They are being careful versus fast. So a wide area was affected and basically they need to cut their way out. So far there aren't any crews clearing the bush road. I have a feeling he won't forget this weekend! Oh oh a friend said he would drive up with an ax to help out! His friend is a city dweller and has no idea.
Big huge hugs

Wow, Lynn, Grumpy sure has had a rough week! Like you said, "he won't forget this weekend." I'm glad they are being safe and careful! Downing trees ends up killing lots of people each year. He sounds very practical and responsible.

I will be very happy to see him home. He is with a very skilled outdoorsman so I know he is safe. The crazy thing is the first day he was up there uncle tried on a shirt and couldn't button it up but after all this work he can. Talk about a boot camp. My son says he is seeing gorgeous pieces of lumber and thinking of all the things he can make but they don't have time for that. I feel sorry for R as she is stuck in a cabin with 2 very stinky men! Lol. I wanna get in a car and go bring them food but I think the only way in would be on horseback. Oh well it is what it is. I am getting regular updates and people know they are there. Sending prayers to the big guy upstairs that they continue to be safe.

Lynn, I need that boot camp to lose some weight, but I'm sure I'd be one back in the cabin eating my stress away and gaining weight! I'll send up some prayers to the Big Guy, too! Hugs

Nope food rationing. Even though they are close to a lake, it is a 'dead' lake. Many years ago acid rain came through and killed lakes so there is water but no fish.

Storm coverage link above
**********
Acid rain has damaged at least 19,000 lakes in Ontario, with most of the pollution coming from two sources -- Ontario mining operations and American industrial waste -- according to a government study.
The report, prepared by Ontario's ministries of the Environment and Natural Resources, is the result of a 10-year study from 1979 to 1989, which surveyed 6,000 lakes over much of the province.
Of the estimated 19,000 acidified lakes, more than 11,000 are in the vacation areas of Haliburton-Muskoka-Lake Nippissing, which stretches from just north of Toronto to North Bay. About 80 percent of the acid rain damage there is caused by U.S. polluters, according to the report.
The second worst area is around Sudbury, where 7,300 lakes are affected. There, local metal smelting plants run by Inco and Falconbridge are the culprits.

Sorry you were joking. I finally slept last night after I don't know how long. I changed my sleep med last night so I am switching to sleeping after 6am and being analytical.
So they went up to the hunting cabin for the night so think Gilligan's Island when it comes to supplies. They have a cabin, think of the hunting cabin Gibbs from NCIS went to but way more dense bush with tall trees. The outhouse survived and there is a big tree that fell beside it so if they wait long enough they could have toilet paper! Lol. There is a solar panel so they can charge their phones. Other than that I don't know. I will get an update when they finish for the day. I will have pictures when he gets back. Right now they are working to get to a road. I foresee many trips in the future to actually clear everything and pile the wood. There is a wood stove in the cabin. I have no idea if I am making any sense.

So many storms everywhere. We have sunshine where we are but at home a massive storm and 60mm of rain the other day. Hope our house survived it ok. Glad Grumpy is ok.
Gracie, better to postpone your trip than go in bad weather.
we are going off the grid today. No power, nothing for 3 days. Sending hugs.

As far as I know he got home and slept. Woke up and ate. Went back to sleep and now he is at work. I had no idea what time he was gonna be home otherwise I would have had food waiting. I know he is a grown man but I can't help being a mom. Lol
Oh I did find out. So grandma brother E and another family member O bought the land and built the hunting cabin. O also has created a campground in the " land o lakes" area. Well O is quite old now and his kids have taken over the campground. While grumpy and E were out with chainsaws, at night they were in contact with family. Day before yesterday O's family had tried to help get to grumpy from the other direction. They did not get far. Yesterday O's family sent a 4 man crew to clear the road. Grumpy was very happy to see another person I tell you.! They packed up and went to O' s place then went home. There is still a ton to do but now they can plan and bring up equipment. On the bad side E's place was affected by the storm. The house is fine but the ATV and some of his stuff is under downed trees. Many schools in the path of the storm were closed yesterday. Many still without power. Fortunately the weather is about 20c and people won't freeze. Me I have been safely tucked away in my apartment that way grumpy wasn't worried I was out doing something stupid.
Life can be pretty crazy at times. Stay safe

Wow Lynn so scary , Grumpy must have been exhausted, pleased to hear he is home safe
that text from your son reminds me of our eldest, when he passed his driving test, he left a note on the kitchen table all it said was, No Sweat!. He’s still the same now, a WhatsApp reply is usually a thumbs up!

Well he went to work yesterday. Came over last night after work. He needed to process what he had gone through now that the survival part was finished. Yup he broke his big toe when a log fell on it but never did anything about it. E is battered and bruised too but he is almost 80. I am forcing grumpy to the doc today for a checkup as he has a ton of bites. There is tick born Lyme disease here. He is listening to me when I say take it easy, finally. He finally realized that it is a miracle that they survived. Also that they were lucky that grumpy was up there. One man and a chainsaw would not have been able to make the progress they did. E's wife is a little thing and would not have had the skill or strength to do chainsaw work. Grumpy took a video as they were leaving, the path was exactly the width of the jeep and the cut trees were the height of the car on either side. Now we wait to see what insurance says about E's home as there are 3 downed trees to take care of. Then again there are thousands from Toronto to Quebec in the same boat. This was a once in a lifetime storm because it followed the trans-canada highway which has never been done before. Fortunately only 9 dead and there was an F2 tornado.
stay safe everyone

Lynn, it is a miracle that they all survived! Wow, such a scary time. I'm sure it will take awhile for it all to really sink in. It's amazing more people weren't killed or injured. Thank Goodness.

A bit of a disaster, yesterday the solar man came to look at the water heater, he got it working and said for a couple of hundred euros he could service it etc, wewereso pleased, anyway overnight it developed a leak and he came back to look and the actual solar panel has shot it, anyway we are having to have a new system, not cheap but as Steve said I would never be able to lift those big gas bottles or fix the connections if he was Ill so he’d rather have the solar, problem is that they are busy until November! Gas bottles were 8 euro twenty years ago, today€23 , they were only 18 a couple of weeks ago.
good news DIL arrived home from the hospital last night, she’s in pain but glad to be home, apparently the boys had practiced a duet on the piano so they played it for her asa welcome home.
only have my craft room to pant on Monday , we’ve finished the villa and even cleaned the windows! Lazy day tomorrow

Oh, Lynn, what a terrible situation your son went through! So happy for you that he is home safe, now!
Jan, glad your daughter in law is home from hospital. I can’t believe all the painting you are doing! Even your craft room!
