I have been doing research for my doc appointment today. I have not seen him in person since August. At the meeting in August I was just so anxious I didn't get anything done. I hope that this time I can calm down. I never had this problem till covid reared its ugly head. Back on topic. I want to see my doc to talk about my blood sugar and weight. Being stuck in these 4 walls for 16 months have taken its toll on me.

Before I forget. Happy mother's day!!!!! Grumpy and will get to see each other if we can find a place outside. But it is 9c and drizzling outside. I really can't remember the last day we had sunshine! So is anyone able to do something special for mother's day?

An interesting day! I spoke to my doc about 3 meds. He was into a full blown dissertation when I said but I am worried about the medication affecting Homer. Who is Homer? I have a bland follicular nodule on my thyroid, which is a useless lump, so I called it Homer! Stopped my doc in his tracks. A bunch of the diabetic meds affect your thyroid and you can get a tumor. Fun. So we took a blood test because unless my A1C is above 6.5 I cannot see an endocrinologist or take the diabetes course. I am having an ultrasound of Homer. Then when they confirm that Homer is there.. Then I can have another biopsy. So basically I have to start at the beginning since it has been 3 years since my last test. Then we will see because my doc doesn't want to prescribe anything for me unless he has the help of an endocrinologist... Which I can understand. Uugghh talk about red tape!

The fun part. I told the nurse I found the perfect man who would cuddle with me as long as I want! Yup a heating pad! Stay sane!

Lynn, I made my gastro doc laugh today too. I had colonoscopy and he said something about my tire and lube job and I said yes, but I'm high mileage!

All is well. No polyps this time. Still have diverticulosis. I'm still a bit loopy and dragging. Wish they'd send a bottle of that sleep stuff home with me! It works fast!

Mother’s Day.......I’m playing golf lol. Will see the boys on other days as too many mums to be considered so I chose to back off. I always think of it as just another day. If I have expectations I get upset. Hope you have a nice day ladies and are spoilt.

No plans here. I actually didn't realize it was this weekend. I guess I need to get some stuff for mom. Maybe some plants. She wants to get the garden started. Maybe I'll run to the greenhouse tomorrow afternoon if I'm feeling able to go that far. No bathrooms there, but only 4 miles away.

I already know what I am getting for mother day. I called grumpy and said I wanted a $15 online class. He said sounds good. I just make it oh so hard for him to get me anything! Lol

The basic rule is that you don't need to get me anything but a card. I MUST have a card. I know! I am so difficult!

Well I finally made a card...it only took me over 4 hours...yep. You are probably expecting a masterpiece....it's my usual style but some techniques took longer than expected. I sometimes wonder why I make cards. I much prefer to do things the easy way LOL. Ina, I've also updated my challenge lists to include your challenges. I may not do them all but will try. Thanks for those.

Morning. Today I go for my ultrasound to check on the size of homer. Homer is a bland follicular nodule of about 3.1 cm on the left side of my thyroid. I was looking up stuff in my medical journal, journal where I write about my medical appointments. In August I will have had homer for 10 years. And just like Homer Simpson he has done absolutely nothing for me! Lol

Happy Mother's day! Grumpy came and got me. We had burgers in the park.. Meaning take out burgers in the parking lot of the school socially distanced. He got me a lovely card and a chocolate bar. Was a really nice talk. Yup just so much excitement!

Oh I am warning you all I just had beans on toast!!!

Hi Lynne. I am glad you had some time with your son. I had a great Mother's day. I watched our church service early as my youngest daughter was coming at 11. It was an amazing service. It started with a witness from one of the moms. She told the story of her parents, and her own family and gave a wonderful tribute to her 98 year old mother. This lady has not been in church since Covid started, but before that (when she was 96) she drove herself to church and she was the sweetest and most elegantly dressed lady. Our pastors wife always said that when she grew up, she wanted to look like Joyce,. After that talk, the elder and pastor both recounted the answers of young children in our church when asked about their moms. Several of those kids are onky 3 years old. Answers to what is your mother's name ......'mommy'. What do you like about your mom, 'she cooks good meals.......well, mostly' . It was really cute.
After that my daughter and family came over and we went for a hike in the forest. They left about 1:30 and my oldest girl came at 4:30 with her 3 kids. All of us hike in the forest again. The first part of that walk was on a cottage road and the kids loved watching all the Canada geese, and some young goslings. When we got back here, the kids rode their skate boards up and down my and my neighbour's driveway. Gifts.....l got chocolates from both girls. Lynn are you familiar with SOMA chocolates? They are in the Distillery district of Toronto. The best I have ever tasted, but so expensive.
My oldest girl also gave me a huge bouqet of flowers. I actually separated tgem into 2 bouquets as I was arranging them, and brought one to my sister-in-law, who has never been married or have kids. Our church always remembers the non mother ladies too but hers doesn't, so she was thrilled to receive them.

I forgot to mention, that on Saturday, our church elder John, delivered a small pot of tulips to my door. He stood on the walkway, looking at my garden, with the flowers in his hand and said, " This is like bringing snow to the Eskimos." I must have clise to 100 tulips blooming in the flowerbeds.
Jan, your Spanish donkey arrived today. I will take it to Neil tomorrow. He is still not talking, and really not himself either. Tomorrow he has been home 2 weeks, and Leanne was told to call the neurologist then, so maybe we will hear something.

That is just the strangest thing. Especially when they can't find any cause. I'm glad the tests have been good but I'm sure you'd all like to know what's happening.

Ina so glad you had a good day! We need those with all the stress. I know this is not the same. I was talking to grumpy about his smart watch. I told him that even though money is tight you still need to do something for yourself. He wanted to return the watch, but it is useful, does everything he wants and it made him smile when it arrived. If months of overtime doesn't allow you something every once and a while then you just get so depressed.

I hope they do find a solution for Neil soon! Hugs

It has been too overcast to see anything in the sky here and it feels cool for May.

I agree about the thoughts on the definition of mom. My aunt was never able to have children but she was a better mom to me than the one who adopted me.

Ina, thank you for the beautiful card. The encouragement came at just the right time. We brought Dad home from the nursing home and it has been very frustrating up to this point. He's having trouble realizing he is home and trying to lift him, it's just dead weight because he doesn't use his legs and he grips the hands of the chair. My sister is wonderful. I don't know where she got the nurse gene. I certainly didn't get it. I got the worker gene, but with all my aches and pains, it's hard to work now.

OK so I am all emotional and I haven't read back. So it must be 5 years that I have been looking for help but the 16 months stuck in here have not helped. OK so my homer is good! 2011 he was 2.9 cm and on Friday it was 3 cm otherwise still just an annoying lump. My blood results are good, my cholesterol is better than my doc! But I am now classified as diabetic. Now I can be sent to the clinic where they can help with my blood sugar, blood pressure and weight in one place Finally! It will be totally covered by insurance.

Grumpy got his first Pfizer shot yesterday and he is really tired today.

I have been going through all my medical journals over the past week. It is a spiral notebook that I write my doc appointment in and any tests I have had. I created a spreadsheet with any meds I have taken since 2003 and ant reaction I have had to it. I created a list of other stuff so I would have all the details to talk to the ENT like my hearing aids and tests. I started a new book for 2021 and moved over a bunch of info. I am all set for when things open up and I can see specialist again.

Helping with dad is a hard labor of love. We just got him to bed. We got him up this morning. My niece is going to stay Tuesday nights and Thursday nights so she will get him to bed and up the next morning. My sister will probably come out every weekday and leave around 2. My other sister will help weekends and Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. Dad lost a lot of weight but he's tall and dead weight because we cant seem to get him to use his legs. They just put him in a chair at the home instead of working with him. My sister thinks he will walk but I think only with us helping hold him up. We forgot to lock the bed wheels and three of us nearly tumbled! Mom is short and weighs 99 lbs soaking wet! She didn't sleep much last night. Please pray they both get some sleep tonight!

It's a lovely day in the neighborhood. I woke up early for a change. I called grumpy and we had breakfast on the balcony! It was so nice! 20c outside and no one was smoking. I will add pictures later.
